Joppatowne 3-18
« on: March 18, 2010, 04:07:01 AM »

Gonna make my first trip bass fishing today out of Joppatowne. This is my first year really aiming for bass its usually crappie, perch, catfish and crabbing. Gonna hit the quarry and see how it is and see if I get hooked(no pun intended). Good luck if anyone else is heading out the next few days. Hoping to throw some lipless cranks and maybe some jigs or shaky heads. I'll be out on my budget bass boat(black 14' alumacraft)

The Quarry hole is a tricky place to get to. Theres pretty deep water in there, tons of cover and structure, and used to be loaded with fish. It has gotten hammered and continues to get hammered week after week, all year long. When you come out of the canal from the ramp, bang a hard right at the end of the reeds, and another right into another canal. Follow that back. I refuse to run through there, stumps, and logs everywhere, and huge rocks at the quarry entrance. OOOOHHH Dangerous. lol.  It has claimed a bunch of lower units, and props. ALOT. Good luck if ya go, its a tricky place.

Stay in center of channel,be careful around the bends (possible oncoming traffic),and slowdown before you see the duckblind on the right.Stay in the center and head straight across, hug that shoreline and go thru the fence. If in doubt use your trolling motor once you get to the 1st. duckblind until you get thru the fence.Oh Yeah, watchout for floaters.

Water was mid-high 40s in the quarry, had a couple bumps but didn't catch any. We were the only boat back there from 830-noon. Awesome day to be on the water couldnt have asked for much more and the water was pretty clear. Should be heating up the next couple weeks. Good luck to anyone heading out.
