Bishop launch open??????
« on: March 18, 2010, 09:27:23 AM »

I was wondering if anyone knew for sure if Bishop's launch was open or not.  It costs too much money to run my boat that far from RRS, would rather drive my truck with boat in tow if I can.  Going out tomorrow, any help would be apreciated.

Ya, i know the ones up here in town arnt but i just didn't know how high the water is at bishop launch, there's usually a considerable difference in the water level the furthur south toward the dam.  I guess I was just wishfully thinking I could save gas in my boat.

Bishop's Point Launch is now OPEN!
Did you launch from there or did someone tell you that it had opened? I had spoke with the ranger over the Red here in NWLA and he said that none of the public launches would open until the river was below 18 ft. I was just wondering because I'd much rather launch from Bishop Point but it's long hike if it's not open.

Yep, that was me!  The river is down to 17.9 today.  We also have heavy equipment cleaning out the ramps in town and those ramps will be open as soon as we get the docks repaired and all of the sand moved.

I had heard that the cut from Bishops to the river had silted in. Does anyone know if this is true?

Me and crawdad launched from there yesterday morning.  We stayed along the north bank line going out to main river and didnt have any problems with it being too shallow.  We just idled through there at the end.  Theres a lot of sand going into Clarks now, you have to hug the rocks really tight.  Good luck.   ~fff

Bishop's Point boat ramp will close tomorrow (Monday, March 29th) morning, due to rising water.
