Skeet Reese Tessera Casting Rod
« on: March 19, 2010, 07:46:48 PM »

Anyone use one yet? I am considering getting one paired with a Curado E7 for flipping jigs and plastics. Here is a link
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0074164&type=pod&cmCat=cat20168_feat

The one I am looking at is a fast action 7'2". Any feedback would be great.

I have that exact rod and I love it.  I've had it for over a year now and it's has performed flawlessly.  Very sensitive and very very strong.  I have swung in many 3-4 lbers with it and ripped many fish out of the wood and reeds without a problem.  They do seem a little tip heavy until you put a reel on them, but when you get a reel on them they feel great.  I also have a curado 200e7 on mine.  I use it for flipping jigs, and sweet beavers in the spring then when it warms up it will be my deep water foot ball jig rod and it works great for both.

I have 2 of the 7'2" "Jig/Worm" rods and love them.  Also have the 7'6" "Swimbait/Carolina Rig" rod and really like them.

I was kinda curious to hear some other opinions about them.  I have a 7'2" carrot stix and really like it but for under $100, I think the skeet reese rod compares with most rods out there.

My wife has the Senko Spinning rod and she gives her stamp of approval. She likes how light it feels and it still has the backbone for fishing plastics. At less then $100 it was a great buy.

I just bought the jig/worm model this afternoon.  Wind was blowing bad.  So, I really didn't get to test it out much today.  Will try again tomorrow.

I have 50lb PP on both of mine.  One is dedicated to creature baits.....lovin' the Power Hawg at the moment.  The other is typically a jig or lizard.

It took a fish or two to get use to the softer tip on the rod but there is plenty of backbone for hooksets.
