Powell Max Series

Was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with the Powell Max series rods? I’m curious about the differences between graphite and their Maxumfiber blank material as far as lightness, sensitivity and strength??

Thanks!

powell max's are awesome! I use to only fish imx's and glx's and I still love them. But I have switched over to fishing Powell. The 683c IMO is the best all around rod you can buy for 140.00 bucks

Rocco -
Thanks for the input. I'm looking for an open water jig rod, throwing 1/2 to 3/4 oz jig n' pigs into deep water ledges. I think a 7' or maybe 7'3" rod would be good. Would want a good backbone for a long-distance hook set. Any suggestions in the Powell line-up???
Thanks!

Went to Powell rods,I like to throw jigs and plastics on the 704,great rod.Watch the action on the rods it seems they are alittle lite, m/h seems like med. I went with the heavy and it works great for the lure size you are inquiring about.

Thanks for the info and heads up on the rod action; good to know that they run a little "lite". I agree with you on going for the heavy action. I hate buying a rod without seeing it in person (and will with the Powell), so this will help alot.

man I dont know as I would go as far as saying the M/H is more like a MED. here is a link to little more in-depth review of the 683c where they tested it up to 2 1/2OZ's www.tackletour.com/reviewpowell683cxfast.html
