Title: Kayak bass fishing Two O'clock Bayou
Post by: Ponson416 on November 10, 2017, 03:23:26 PM
There's a bayou near Krotz Springs LA called Two O'clock Bayou.  I've been hearing about this place for a long time.  Wednesday of this week I finally got off of my butt and made the trip over there.  And boy, was it worth it.  I must've picked the best time of year to go.  The leaves are turning and falling off the trees.  Looks like Louisiana is finally in full blown fall.  It was like paddling through a painting.

That in itself was worth the trip.  To make things better, the bites were plentiful.  The only negative was that it was mostly small fish.  But they were still fun to catch.  I also had the entire bayou to myself.  There was not a single other soul on the water and no other vehicles at the ramp.  Glad I had good phone reception in case of emergency.  I spent the entire day out there and estimate that I paddled about 8 miles total.

I probably could've taken my bass boat in there.  But it may have been risky.  Lots of laydowns and stumps.  Some areas of shallow water and some tight squeezes between trees.  But it was a really nice day in the kayak.  I got some video with my GoPro and will post it in the video section.

Nice looking area and congrats on the catches.  ~c~  From what you said I agree that you are probably better off not having taken your bass boat in there, Fiberglass repairs are not cheap.  :P

I saw your video and did you throw any frogs back in there?

I did.  Plenty.  The first time a choupique hit my $11 frog I picked it up!   lo

There were a bunch of those suckers swimming around. They destroyed my jerkbait.

Yelp them things can destroy a soft bait in a heart beat and they do a good job on the hard baits also. :surrender:

Also try Half Moon Bayou, Little Alabama Bayou, and Big Alabama Bayou.  They are all up around that same area.  I'm going to keep hitting these places.  I've mostly caught smaller fish in these places.  BUT, I've seen much bigger fish come out of there.  So, I know they live there.  Henderson is getting too crowded and Lake Martin is gonna be full of duck hunters.  So, I'll probably be making more trips to these places.

The water is down in Henderson so a kayak would be killer right now.. especially in the pits north of I10.

Hoping hoping hoping to get my first boat this year. I would be all for a Yak if I wasnt 6'3" 300+ lbs lol

Last year during the drawdown I smoked them in the pits.  It was almost cheating.  The water is starting to come back up.  I was hoping it would stay low for the weekend so I can kill em from the yak like last year.  I'm keeping an eye on it.  If it gets to 8 feet most people are comfortable putting their boats in the water.  Then, the hunters will be out.  I wouldn't be comfortable putting my boat in the water until it gets to about 8.5 feet though.  That's just me.  I may go back to Two O'clock this weekend.

Sounds good.

Hope to catch a deal on a Bass Tracker style boat so I dont habe to resort to the pits to bank fish with everyone else lol.

A buddy of mine took me to Henderson few months ago. First time I ever been on the lake..... seems like Heaven to flip in!!!!

Henderson can be fickle.  But yes, you can flip like crazy in there.
