Title: BPS CarbonLite 2.0....
Post by: Polaris425 on January 15, 2018, 09:36:31 AM
SO... took my nephew to BPS saturday, was going to buy him something (late Christmas Present) but he was being a bit of a turd so... I didn't... lol

Anyway, Backstory, I have a CarbonLite rod I use for traps and cranking. I LOVE it... I've had it for several years. You can say what you want about BPS, Johnny, or their products (and I might agree with you on some)... But when it comes to this rod, I Don't Care. I love my CarbonLite rod.

So now they have the 2.0... and I checked it out while I Was there. If it weren't for January being the property tax, car tags, and all that jazz month... I'd have most likely come home with one. I've been wanting another one so that I can have a trap and a crank tied on at the same time w/o having to use 1 rod and swap back and forth.

Hopefully I'll have one in my stable soon, and can do a good review.

I love the black carbonlite rods which I own two of those.
I just despite the white ones just because.

I wish they would go back to black. I have two left after breaking one in half.

Yeah I Wasn't too sure about it at first either. But it looks SICK in person.

However, the downside to a white rod like anything else, it won't stay that way long. lol. That's why I don't buy white shirts or shoes.

But those winn grip handles should clean up easy enough I think.

I have a couple of the white CLR rods, I like them but I actually prefer the older black ones, they are my jig/plastics rods. The new ones seem a bit soft but like I said, I do like them. Ihave a couple of the new gen 2 Pro Qualifiers, they feel like the original CL.

Carbonlites were a nice rod, and I actually liked the blanks and actions. My gripe was with the guides, they just seemed soo cheap and line just didnt seem to "flow" through like Fuji alconites, or any Fujis for that matter.

Didn't they go to Fuji guides? The titanium rod had Fuji.

The OG Carbonlites? If they were Fuji, they were some low line stuff from them.

The guides were cheap. They bend real easy. I always had to bend them back into place after pulling them out of my car.
The other thing I had an issue with was the cap on the butt of the rod falling out and getting lost. So I have 2 carbonlites with no cap.

I think the guides are Pacific bay. I can be mistaken. That or they are a low quality Fuji.

Mine bend occasionally as well. But replacing them wouldn't be a big deal since I have the tools.
Other than bending though, I havent had any issues with casting. I have a BB2 on the OG CarbonLite and can sling a trap plenty far.

I'm not sure what guides are on the new ones, I'd have to look.

They were PACBAY with a titanium deposit. I had one that bent when I stepped on it, it became oval but still cast well. After I finally got tired of looking at I replaced it. lo
