Title: SLX DC
Post by: CraigP83 on August 03, 2019, 06:05:13 PM
Anyone use one? Kind of surprised it's $90 bucks more than a regular SLX

What surprised me is that they are taking market value from the Curado. You can now get into a DC reel at a very reasonable price...  It may be my next reel just to check it out.

No DC for me, but I have the regular one and like it. Im kinda over the DC reels they are coming out with. Not a true DC to me.

Only one I've ever cast were the original DC Calais, they were nice but never could justify the money...

Only because my brother is looking into the SLX (yes he used my reading ) and he asked me what a DC is but my guess is as good as his, so what is a DC compared to a normal SLX?

DC is "Digital Control". A computer chip based cast control system.

Everything is fine until the Russians hack your reel in mid-cast

I'm gonna get one for the girlfriend. She needs to move beyond spinning reels and with the price of it I'll get one eventually for her.

I have only played with mine in the yard. I bought it for kayak and bank fishing where I have a lot going on and are often swapping rods/reels/lures quickly. I think the DC is of, uh, reel benefit where one might have their hands full multi-tasking.

The SLX DC is very resistant to over running and bird nesting and cast light lures best I can tell thus far nicely. The DC braking system definitely is evident and at work when casting.

I got one last week and used it for a few hours Sunday. It's interesting for sure. I'm fine with a regular Baitcaster but I'm liking this DC feature. It doesn't make me cast further or anything but it seems my hand and thumb is working less. I have early arthritis in my hands so a few hours of fishing hurts. So I like it just because it seems to cause less hand fatigue. Your mileage may vary.
