I took a vacation last month to Walloon Lake in Northern Michigan. It's one of Michigan's finest smallmouth fisheries. This day was cut short by some bad storms that rolled through in the morning. I did catch some nice bass and walleye.

I love a good smallmouth bite, shame I haven't had on it 15 years....
I'm gonna plan a trip through the northern states one of these years....

Mike, get the family or a good buddy and plan a vacation trip there. Tons of lakes in that area loaded with good smallmouth. You just have to hope that the weather will let you get out there without too bad of winds. I think Minnesota and Wisconsin have some similar fisheries as well.

Thanks guys! There are so many beautiful things to see there with the family. Most lakes you can see anywhere from 20 to 40 feet down and still see bottom.
I'm in Tennessee now with the Mrs. I should have brought my fishing rods. I have Douglas lake right here and planning on stopping in Kentucky on the way home by I believe it's called Baron lake. Maybe next year. This trip is make sure the Mrs. is happy and my fishing trips continue. :-*
