Title: Nov Bassing / Thanksgiving Holiday / Prayer Requests
Post by: Donald Garner on October 31, 2019, 06:09:55 PM
Greetings to everyone  ~shade

:toot: :toot:    Its November already   ~shade   This year is just flying by.  Fall Bassing is beginning to come around in some parts of the country.  Ole Man Winter made a stop here in Central Texas yesterday.  It was 29dgrs this morning when I got up for work.  I'm glad it stopped raining when it did yesterday.  People around these parts don't have a clue on how to drive in adverse weather conditions.  I love these Texas Winters we'll have a cold morning but by afternoon the temps are up into the 50's / 60's.

To everyone I hope this month brings good health to those that need it.    For those looking for that new Personal Best good luck with the hunt and fishing.  If possible take your kids out and show them how great the Outdoors is / can be.

Later on this month the Thanksgiving Holiday will be upon us.  Enjoy the family time together.  If you're traveling to be with the family be safe and plan ahead.

To everyone have a Blessed Day on this the First Day of November 2019.

Happy November everyone!

We're having the same weather Don. Torrential rains Wednesday and Thursday along with some wind, but it let up long enough for the Trick or Treaters to collect some candy. Then came the winds and an overnight chilldown. It was 31 this morning and frozen water drops on the vehicles. :shocking: Looks like we're not supposed to get above 45 today. Many have heard it from me before.... I hate Winter.  >:(

Tuesday was a magnificent day and I got to spend a big part of it on the water. Weather started out a bit misty and very overcast but turned out warm and sunny by noon and the water temps were mid 60's. Probably the last really decent day I'll see on Claytor for a while. That evening I received an announcement saying they were beginning the Winter draw down immediately due to the coming rains. Just as the Bass are about to start fattening up for Winter.

Still lots to be thankful for. Hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and happy November.

IT'S FRIDAY!!! TGIF!!! 38 headed to mid 40s, high winds with gusts to 60 mph, trees have come down and power has been lost cloudy. Getting ready for the stove and freezer, I hate cleaning behind a stove that hasn't moved for a decade or 2, specially with my back. ^-^ ~xyz ~rant :surrender: Thank the lord for cleaner with bleach and grease cutter. Have the sonar unit packed and ready to mail today, Priority mail bubble wrapped and surrounded by crumpled news paper, I'll insure it for 800$ and hope they lose it.
For you that can't hit the water, sorry, I feel your pain. For those that can and do, sock it to em baby!
Have a great day, be well, enjoy the weekend!!!

Greetings from Belton, Texas  ;)

Mostly clear sunny skies across Central Texas today  ~sun  Our forecasted temps were 35 / 60dgrs with 26% humidity.  It was really nice outside today.  I love these Texas Winter days.  Cold in the morning but nice and comfortable in the afternoons.  I stopped by the bank on the way home and just had on my short sleeved shirt on.  The teller asked me if I was cold etc.  I informed her it was 60dgrs outside.  She hadn't been outside all day since arriving at work early this morning.

Well the Knotheads were at it today.  Just prior to school letting out some of the boys went into the 2nd floor boys restroom and pulled one of the stall doors off its hinges.  Both hinges are damaged as is the hardware on the door.  Its going to cost a couple hundred dollars to fix this door.

I had to replace the paper towel dispenser in this same restroom this morning prior to 6th grade having lunch.  They pulled open the cover and took the whole roll of paper towels and dumped them in the toilet.  Of course they then commenced to pissing all over that roll.

Oh well we'll never catch these kids doing this.  If we do it will be just sheer luck.

Rodney; Your house wasn't damaged with the high winds and falling trees was it?  I hate cleaning behind appliances also especially the refrigerator.  You letting the delivery guys move all this stuff for ya?  You ought too since you're paying for new stuff.

Good luck with getting you electronics fixed and shipped back to you in one piece.  By the time they get fixed you'll be neck deep in snow.  When Spring rolls around and you find the box it will be like a delayed Christmas gift  :)

Jim; Glad to hear things are going well for you and the family.  Tks for getting us hooked up here with our monthly thread.  Glad to hear you had the opportunity to make it out on the water.  I haven't heard of Winter Draw down in a long time.  Heck the only time our lakes have any water in them is during flooding.

The powers to be here sell the water from Belton and Stillhouse to communities down stream from us.  Our lakes stay at Winter Draw Down pool all the time.  The guys that do really well during the tournaments are the Off Shore deep structure guys.  They have special rock piles and sunken brush piles they fish.

Lip; You ain't frozen in are buddy?  Hope things are well for ya and the family.

To everyone in the UB family have a relaxing and SAFE Weekend ahead.

Afternoon everyone . he  ~sun is in and out and the wind is a blowing at 20 MPH and for today it is above freezing at 37* . I think we have seen our last warm day . It looks like winter and fall are in a fight with snow on the trees and the leaves are still on the tree. Donald yelp sounds like them Knotheads were just waiting till after Halloween to start pulling their tricks.  ~rant It would be nice if you could put an silent alarm on the stall doors and towel dispensers that would go off when they were pulled off their foundations. Then someone could get in there and catch doing it. Rodney did you get your new stove and freezer up and running yet? Jim our Trick or Treaters wasn't that lucky as far as the weather went. It was snowing and the wind was blowing hard and it was cold out there. The ones who did brave the weather to get out got rewarded with a big handful of candy. We still had at least 100 kids and parents stop by. Bud how things going down by the beach and on the home front? Hope everyone has a great day and be safe out there.

Greetings to everyone  ~shade

Beautiful Day across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 37 -  65dgrs with 31% humidity.  We had clear skies and lots of sun  ~sun ~sun ~sun

I stopped by the barber shop early this morning.  She opens at 7am I was the 3rd guy in the door.  I'm good to go for the month  ;)  Afterwards I made a quick trip into work to process our time sheets.   They're due to finance Tuesday mornings.  I'm too busy during the weekday morning to mess with Time Sheets.  I get them done early on Saturday morning and forget about them.

The wife and I decided to head over to Ft. Hood for some shopping.  We haven't been there in a year I guess shopping.  I'm heading back over there tomorrow after church.  I'm taking my Cav. Stetson into the western store to get it reformed.  I have it sitting in a Curio Cabinet with some of my military awards etc.  I wear it once a year during Take a Vet to School Day.  The brim is flat from sitting on the shelf.  It should have a drupe in the front and back.  While there shopping the wife bought a pair of western boots and some other items.

After shopping we drove over to the BPS in Round Rock.  I bought a couple cell phone belt carriers.  I picked up some sinker stops and a couple pairs of Cocoons Fit Over Polarized Sunglasses.  They had a Special Sale going on you buy 1pr at regular price and the second pair was $20.00 dollars off.  I lost mine during Fishing for Freedom.  I had them on top of my cap.  When I took my cap off for the National Anthem they fell off and found a new home at the bottom of Belton Lake  ~xyz

Lip; High winds and cold temps means 'It's Cold Outside'  Hopefully the snow will hold off till the leaves drop.  I sent the pictures of the damage to the picture's cell phone.  He told they would check the cameras on Monday to see if they could find out who caused all this damage.  I'm not holding my breath on them finding anything.  I've been on these cameras before looking for something and it takes a LONG TIME to scroll through the time sequence.

Rodney; You got that new stove hooked up yet?

Bud; How you doing buddy.  You got all those Honey Do's completed yet?

Guys you all have a relaxing evening and a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning to everyone,

Hopefully you all remembered to turn your clocks back 1 hour last night  ~shade

We're starting the day off with Clear Skies with forecasted temps of 37 - 64dgrs with 100% humidity  ~sun

There's nothing planned for today other than going to church and out to lunch somewhere.  With this cold front we've had move in cutting the grass and trimming is all done for the season ;)

To everyone enjoy today and be safe in your travels if your out on the roadways.  Tight lines if you're out on the water.

Day started at a cool 43 degrees going up into the low 70s.  No rain in the forecast until next weekend.  Hoping to bring the boat home today with plans for some fishing on Tuesday or maybe even tomorrow.  I have to re install the trolling motor (Hope it works) and re install the transducer and zip tie the wires and should be good to go.  I have the new switch in the pedal and looking forward to trying it out

I am mostly caught up with the Honey Do s but I am sure there are others but I really need a break from them for a while.

Heading to the river on Monday around 10AM or so.  Lows in the morning in the upper 30s with a high tomorrow of 70.  We will hit the river after it warms a little in the morning.  Not a fan of fishing when it is too cold.

Short visit to the river today of only about an hour.  Big motor running fantastic with no issues.  Got to our first spot and put the troller down and immediately had a problem.  It is the switch knob problem and could not be fixed on the water.  Tide running hard and could not position the boat where it needed to be without running the big motor.  So, we just took the boat for a ride up and down the river and put it back on the trailer for a short trip home.

I have a spare trolling motor that is also non working but the foot pedal and switches and control knobs on the spare foot pedal are in great working order.   So, I decided that I would just take the spare foot pedal and put it on the trolling motor on the boat.  Today I dis assembled the foot pedal from the control head.  A really simple task except for some crimp on wire nuts that had to be cust off.  Tomorrow I will take the old foot pedal out of the boat and install the newer spare foot pedal and I should be good to go.  Not really a large task just a step by step re wire process with push on terminals so it won't take all that long to do.  Since the spare trolling motor pod was not working I just decided to use the rest of it for spare parts and be done with it.  Probably will get another trolling motor when needed but hopefully I won't need to do it at this time.

If the weather is decent I will head to the river again once I am done repairing the troller.  In our short visit to the river we were getting some small bites but did not boat anything.  The reality was we really did not make but a couple casts before we decided it was a lost cause without a working trolling motor and a hard running tide.  Weather was perfect and I think it would have been a decent catching day if we just had the time to do it.

I can't tell you how much of a pleasure it is to have the big motor running so well.  It is powerful and responsive and could not ask for more.  Hopefully I will be able to make short work of the rest of the trolling pedal repair and have some quality time on the river.  Unfortunately there is some rain forecasted in the area but it will be spotty so maybe we will get lucky.

Good evening to all,

We had mostly clear skies with lots of sun across Central Texas today   ~sun  Our forecasted temps were 57 - 80 dgrs with 50% humidity.  Not a bad Fall day at all  :)  The rest of the week is looking pretty good also.  There's a chance of some rain on Thursday they're forecasting 70% but we'll have to wait and see on that.

Busy day a work the kids have decided to start tearing stuff up now.  I just had a partition reattached to the restroom wall last Friday.  Today they tore it back off the wall.  The restroom door they tore up Friday got fixed today.  I really have a hard time understanding why these kids would want to tear up something like a restroom stall door or a urinal partition.

Bud; Glad to hear the Ranger is finally running like it's suppose too.  Trolling motors can be a real PIA.  I hope you're able to take the parts of the other one and make it work for ya.

Rodney; Hope you up and at it today.  I know you had a busy weekend with getting that new stove installed.

Lip; You doing alright there buddy.  I know you've been busy here sending out messages reference adopt a family.  Thank you for all that extra work you took on to get the word out.

To everyone in the UB family have a relaxing evening and a better day tomorrow.

Good morning everyone!!! It's raining and 47, all I know, I did a soft reset and have to reload stuff. ~rant ~xyz ^-^ No stove, got a call early Saturday afternoon that the install guy had an emergency and they didn't have a replacement. we'll get it tomorrow, oh well. Battled high winds and a front moving through Friday into Saturday, Sunday it threatened to rain and we got some grapple, mini snowballs about the size of a BB, it's the last of the grilling for the year, I did a small pork roast on the rotisserie, it was a very lean piece of meat but it didn't dry out thankfully, we had mashed spuds and apple sauce with it, nice simple meal.
The knee and back are holding up pretty well, able to do the gym thing. I had my last therapy session yesterday, earlier she had told me there might be a way for me to do the leg press so I had her come out in the gym and show me. Didn't work, 4th press the knee said no more, so it's no more. :( :'( I'll do what I can and keep moving forward.
Lip, we have snow in the forecast later in the week, I think we should send it to John!!!
Bud, hopefully you'll have the TM up and running and are able to hit the water again, looks like we may be done here.
Jim. good to see you hear!!!
Donald, I was told the unit will be on it's way 7 to 10 days after they get it, should be there now, I sent it priority with 800$ insurance, I'm hoping it gets lost. lo Hopefully they find the little darlings that did the damage, their parents should get the bill for all repairs.
Been having some issues with my laptop, think I've got them worked out. My wife wants one for her recipes and what not and it needs a DVD player and hook up to our printer. I have her thinking, that after the first of the year when they go on sale I get a new one and she takes mine, we'll see.
Have a great day, be well!!

The troller is now fixed and operating correctly.  Decided to just swap the entire pedal assembly from the spare motor because the switches and knobs were all in like new condition.  it was an easy job with all connections being made inside the head of the trolling motor.  Got it all put back together and tested and all speeds are working just like they should.  I will probably fix the old pedal system to just have a spare.  So as it turns out I spent less than $30. total for the repair and that was sure better than $1.5K for a brand new motor.

As soon as I got everything buttoned up it started raining so I just put the cover on the boat and will likely take it back to storage tomorrow sometime.  Weather the rest of the week will be cold and wet so hopefully next week will be better.  This cold snap coming today is very premature, hopefully it will return to normal next week.

Right after my knee replacements and that therapist had me get on my stomach and would get out her little ruler and torture me by bending and pushing it to get a certain degree angle with it. That was one of the worst pains I have ever had.  ~xyz I would rank it right up there with passing a kidney stone.  lo lo Donald hope all is well down by you today. Good evening to everyone,

It was another pleasant day across Central Texas today.  We had forecasted temps of 63-74dgrs with 78% humidity.

Quiet day on the school front.  The Knotheads and Lil Darlings might be reloading  ~shade  We're getting things together for Take a Vet to School Day here on Friday.  Final coordination was made for delivery of 250 folding chairs for Thursday.  It's going to take me about 3 hours to get everything set up.  The Choir teacher will setup her stuff has will the Band Director.  This is one event I really look forward to each year.

Lip: All's well brother down here in our part of God's Country  ;)  I really enjoy reading your posts and checking out all those  icons  ~shade  You have quiet the collection there .  Hope things are going well for you and the family also.

Jim; It's a whole different language spoken down here in Texas  :surrender:  We have some Texans that don't even understand Texans   lo

Bud; Tks for the update on the trolling motor issue.  Glad to hear things are 100% and ready to go on the next trip.

Rodney; Sorry to hear about your knee issue now.  That meal you fixed there sure sounded tasty  :food
Sounds like a great plan to me on you getting a New Laptop or Desktop computer  ;)  The one you have now is all broken in etc she won't have to deal with the setup headaches.  Good luck with that plan and keep us updated on that.

Guys you all have a great day tomorrow.  Be safe and enjoy the family time.

HAPPY HAPPY HUMP DAY!!! For all of you what works, for all of us what don't, just another day in the hood. lo lo 33 headed to low 40s, sunny, breezy, another fall day, possible snow tomorrow. Nothing day, have to sit here waiting for the delivery, got the call last evening, between 12 and 6, nothing like pinpoint appointments. lo lo
Bud, when do you think you'll hit the water and work the day lights out of your TM? I know you're itching to go.
Lip, looks like we're going to get a taste of your snow tomorrow, I'll be working on the snowblower this weekend, need to change the oil and lube the cables and it'll be ready.
Jim, hows the fishing in your area? The fall bite must be great now.
Donald, time to let the little darlings think that eye are them no matter where they are, make them squirm.
Hope the take a Vet to School day is as good as before, more schools should do it!!! As far as a 'puter goes, I really don't need a lot, I see not many laptops come with DVD drives anymore so I'd have to get and usb DVD drive. I could get a better deal at Wally World most likely I'll get from Best Buy, they have newer models and are able to fix any problems in house along with great service.
Have a great day, be well!!

Rodney, we will be going out tomorrow for a few hours.  Temps here in the 70s but a big cold front coming through on Friday that will give us a temp range of upper 30s for low and upper 50s for highs over the weekend.  This is just a frontal condition and I am sure there is still lots of good weather in the near future.  About the only months that are brutal are January and February but often there are worm days scattered even during these winter months.

Afternoon everyone and it's about 50* right now and overcast with a 25 MPH wind out of the WSW with a front moving this way from the north that's suppose to bring some colder temps around 27* tonight with some (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/166/jdC6rH.gif) mixed in there. Rodney yelp get your (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/964/ztnuOz.gif) working propper. They are calling for a colder and winter with more (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/9119/QgXsPk.gif) than normal this winter. Bud try and keep warm down there in all that upper 50* temps.  ;D Donald hope them Knotheads and Lil Darlings are on their best behave during your take a Vet to School day. Also keep an eye out for my (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/1574/Lol6kG.gif)  I went out this morning and he was missing from his pen so I'm guessing he headed down your way for the winter again. Howdy from Belton, Texas  ~shade

Beautiful day across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 62-79dgrs with 62%humidity.

We got a front moving through with some rain and cooler temps tonight and into tomorrow.

We had another quiet day on the school front which is ok by me.  We had a few parent show up today to see the principal.  I don't know if it was those Knotheads that did the damage or not.  Hopefully it was them.

Lip;  Looks like Ole Man Winter is attempting to move in on ya up there.  Hopefully it won't snow that much and cause problems for ya.  The kids will be ok on Friday during our Take a Vet to School Day.  They are on total lock down and there is zero tolerance for any acting up.

I'll keep an eye out for your camel.  His last visit was a long one if I remember right.  He didn't want to leave  lo

Bud; You and the wife have a pleasant trip out on the river tomorrow.

Rodney;  Hey buddy how's the knee doing today?  Better I hope.  So did the stove delivery make in on time?  I hate those all day waits for deliveries too.  These Knotheads don't realized we have camera watching them the whole time they're out in the hallways.  We don't have camera's in the classrooms nor the restrooms.  When they act up in classroom the teachers just call down to the front desk asking for assistance.   One of the principals or counselor will go upstairs to see what the situation is.

I like buying my computer stuff and TV's etc from Best Buy also.  I like their Geek Squad.  My wife has had them out a couple times while I was in Iraq getting our Surround sound and big screen TV squared away.

Guys and everyone else have a relaxing evening and a great day tomorrow.

Rodney how you doing over they today? Bud I saw where you had to bite the bullet and get a new TM for your boat. Sorry I haven't been around out here much but I'm very busy with our Adopt A Family For Christmas deal which is off to a great start already thanks to our great and generous  members.  ~c~ ~c~ Well time for me to get back to work and send out some more PM's so take care and be safe out there.

Me and the Mrs hit the river a little bit again today.  Beautiful day in the lower 70s mostly sunny skies.  Water temps were at 63.  This is the last good day for a bit.  Cold front coming through tonight with the highs tomorrow only in the middle 50s with lows in the upper 30s for Friday and Saturday nights.  Temps to remain on the cool side for a few days next week before returning to more seasonable temps.

Yep, had to bite the bullet and buy a new Minn Kota trolling motor.  Should be here about Wednesday and I am looking forward to doing the install.  You know how it is with a boat.  It seems like you always have to break out another thousand to keep things in running order.  Now all I have to do is to learn how to use a left side go button instead of the motorguide right side button that I have been using for the past 30+ years.

It was mostly a rainy day here across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 40 - 57dgrs with 97% humidity.  Tomorrow is supposed to be partly sunny with forecasted temps of 39  - 52dgrs.

Busy day getting things all setup for Take a Vet To School Day tomorrow.  We're all ready as ready can be.  The Knotheads continued to be active today.  They continued to trash the 2nd floor boys restroom.  We got it narrowed down to the 7th grade boys.  They just have to review a ton of video tape.

Bud; Congrats on getting a new Trolling motor.  You're going to like those MinnKota motors.  I have a Fortrex 80lb foot control on my Stratos and it moves the boat great.  I have Motor Guide on my G3 and I find myself forgetting which side of the pedal the button is.  You'll get it fixtured out in no time.  When my Motor Guide bites the dust I'm getting it replaced with a Minn Kota.  Have fun installing it on the Ranger.

Lip; It sounds like Winter has arrived at your place.  Hopefully it's not here to stay yet.

Rodney; You still vertical and breathing buddy?  We all hope so.

To everyone have a pleasant day tomorrow.

TGIF!!! TGIF!!! Did n't we do this a week ago? lo ;)27 headed to 33 or so, partly cloudy, possible flurries. Close to 40 tomorrow then back to the high 20s, brrrr. Still need to hit the gym today, got up late. The ground is white, barely but still white, last year at this time I was still floating the boat about a week or so from covering it up for the winter, I'll be doing that in the cold. Not much going on, a couple of chores is all.
Lip, what the heck happened to this year, it's just a blur for me, I thought we just finished with winter.
Bud, what model MK did you get, Foretrex? You'll enjoy it and getting used to it won't take you long.
Donald, sure hope you catch the delinquents that are causing the trouble, they need to turn a corner in their life. Hope the Take a Vet to School is a rousing success.
You now, I'm beginning to wonder about boat boat ownership, I ran less than a tank of gas through mine this year, hopefully next year is better.
Have a great day and weekend!!! Be well!!!
Rodney

Rodney, I too have had thoughts about boat ownership from time to time.  I get on the water more than you because of your medical problems but still not as much as I once did.  I have had so much down time over the past couple years because of motor problems and now trolling motor issues but that too is about to be resolved.  My wife and I both agree as long as we are still able to use the boat no way will be sell it.
For now we just do the best we can and that will have to be good enough.  After owning boats for over 40 years I could not imagine having one as long as we are capable.  We both believe the boat has kept me in fairly good condition and even if we just take it for a ride once in a while that is better than nothing.  Currently we go out about twice a week even if it is only for a little bit.

Good morning to everyone  ~shade

We're starting the day off with Clear Skies with the forecasted temps being 46 - 67dgrs with 93% humidity.

It was a busy day and long day yesterday at school.  The Take a Vet to School Day was a huge success thanks to a lot of people's hard work.  We had over 160 Vets, Retiree's and Active Duty members from all branches of the Service show up for breakfast and the assembly that followed.  Our City Mayor was the guest speaker during breakfast.  We also had an Executive from the History Channel speak briefly also.

One of the Veterans that showed up is a Pearl Harbor survivor.  Not only did he survive the sinking of his ship but he was on the USS Missouri during the surrendering ceremony.  What an Honor it was to get to meet this gentleman.  He told the principal the Japanese still owes him a breakfast.  His ship got hit as he was eating breakfast that morning.

Last night was our final season ending Varsity Football Game.  It was a blow out from the visiting team.  It was cold as all heck at the game also.  There were several people in the stands that weren't properly dress for the weather.  I wore my H2O cold weather suit and was comfortable.

We're off to have lunch at one of our local burger joints.  Our Div III Crusaders are playing there final regular season home game this afternoon.  If they win they'll have another undefeated season and a playoff spot in the up coming playoff.

Lip; Sounds like Winter has arrived at your place.  We got snow in our forecast for this coming Monday  :surrender:   Hope you had a enjoyable evening with your great grandson.

Bud;  I too have had those same thoughts about boat owner ship this past year.  I've had my Stratos in the water maybe 3 times this year.  But like you and Rodney mentioned as long as I'm able I'm going to hang on to it.  One of these days I'll be Retiree again  ~shade

Rodney; You must be online with that weather pattern that moving through Lip's area.  I always feel for you guys that live up in the Northern and Northeastern parts of our country.  I hope you're able to make it out a couple more times before you have to put the boat away.

To everyone have a relaxing and pleasant Saturday.  Enjoy the family time this weekend.

Cold start to today.  Temp the morning was 35 at 6AM only going up to the mid to upper 50s today but sunny clear and a bit breezy.  Bottom line is that it is cold.  Forecast has cooler weather for another week or so with another cold blast heading our way.  This is usually about what the weather is in January or early February.

Most of my thoughts currently are about the anticipated arrival of the new trolling motor and of course the worrying about doing the install.  Should be really straight forward just a bit of a reach up under the bow to remove the old motor mount and install the new motor mount.  I need someone with long skinny arms that will fit through the bow panel.  I have done it before so I am sure we can make it happen even with my short arms.  After that it will just be to add the Ranger style plug to the motor and re install the transducer and run the transducer wiring.  Again no big deal just have to take my time and do it right.

The only planned thing is to attend a memorial service for one of Wife's friends who passed away this week.

Good morning to all,

The day is starting off with Clear skies with forecasted temps of 46 - 72dgrs across Central Texas today.  We have a front moving into our area later on today.  Clouds will bring rain and cooler temps.  There a chance of snow flurries for Monday  :shocking:

We're off to church here shortly and then over to Olive Garden for lunch.  I  have nothing planned for the afternoon except to relax.

Bud; Congrats on getting that new trolling motor.  Good luck with the install.

To everyone have a Great Sunday and enjoy the family time together.  Be safe in your travels if you're out and about.

Morning. and it feels like 38* with the wind chill and tomorrow night it's going to get down around 5 or 6* with the wind chill. Donald hope it's just some flurries y'all get. There are calling for a couple of inches around here but just have to wait and see. Bud hope your TM install goes well. Rodney y'all going to be getting some of that snow also? Hope everyone has a nice relaxing day and be safe out there if you go out.

HAPPY HAPPY MONDAY!!! 32 headed to 28, snow, storm warning, 6 inches by this time tomorrow, 12 inches  by Wednesday this time, maybe, the snowblower isn't ready. My wife's car had a puddle of water under the radiator after we got back from an outing to an apple farm, I have to take it to the garage, I'll do the gym later hopefully. My knee is given me issues when I go up stairs, a dull ache straight through the joint, mostly during fronts and cold damp days, thankfully walking and doing the elliptical don't bother it, time will tell what's next. We had a good trip to a local apple farm, best fried cakes around, picked up a dozen, a gallon of fresh squeezed cider and a growler of hard cider, very fruitful trip. lo We went with my daughter and son-in-law.
SHC, RIP for Neekers, I know how tough it is to lose a beloved companion and buddy.
Lip, it's here, blah!!! :surrender:
Bud, I'm not giving up owning a boat but I'm still considering downsizing so I can fish 2 HP and length limited lakes, no cruisers jet-skis or wild ass drunk cruisers. Take your time and I know you'll have the new TM mounted and ready to go, do it when Mrs. Bud is away doing her Church work. ;) ;)
Donald, good news about your Take a Vet to School day, I've had the honor of meeting several combat veterans from WWII, my Father-in Law was a forward artillery spotter and drove a truck chasing Patton, my Dad was a Captain in the Army Reserve when Pear was bombed, he and Mom lived on Maui, she was a plantation nurse, he taught school . He was put on night shore patrol and still teach school, Mom helped with working with the wounded. It looks like the only thing I'll be doing with the boat is putting it in the water so I can tighten several lag screws for the bunks then winterizing. The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to go the smaller boat issue. I can use it on calmer water which will be easier on my back, be easier to launch and retrieve and tow. I'm up in the air about it but it's still percolating in the back of my mind. It would force me to downsize my gear.
Have a great day, stay warm, be well!!!
Rodney

I'm sitting here enjoying my day off for veteran's day, watching old episodes of Vikings with the rest of the pups. Annie has grown quite a bit, she's up to 25# now. I'm thankful she doesn't seem to be growing much more. The vet originally expected her to get to around 45#, but as a puppy she appeared to be a pit mix. Now that she's developed and about fully grown, she looks like a miniature Rhodesian Ridgeback without the "ridge". And her energy level... she only knows two speeds: full throttle and dead stop.

The youngest boy has been inducted into the Beta club at school. He's also showing quite the affinity for playing guitar. I know I've mentioned that before, back when he was about 3 months into it. Now he's almost a year into it, and you'd swear he's been playing for several. Picks up new songs in a matter of minutes, almost always by ear, and I'm talking about some complicated stuff too.

The grandson is growing like a weed. He's kind of crawling lately, doing it low-crawl style (army crawl), and pulling himself up on furniture. He loves the dogs and any TV involving sea/ocean stuff. He'll be running in no time.

The oldest boy is back on the road! He's down in South TX on the coast building solar farms and making decent money.

Isn't funny how, as you get older, you discover you have a favorite grocery store?

The middle boy is still holding steady. Working at my favorite grocery store, living with his girlfriend. They had a wreck a few weeks ago. They're both perfectly fine, not even a scratch or even sore the next day, but the car was utterly destroyed.

Our daughter is living the young single mom struggle. Not much to say there, except she's hanging in there and making progress.

Unrelated to kids and dogs, I found an interesting item in a pawn shop recently.
I've been on the look-out for an electric screwdriver. The arthritis and carpal tunnel has been kicking my butt with all the equipment I have to work on, and in this particular pawn shop I found one made by Dewalt. It's so freaking cool! It's MOTION ACTIVATED! You use the proper bit, hold the button, and give the tool a small twist. Just a very small amount of twist makes it spin slowly, turn it about a 1/8 turn and it spins full speed, and it's a torquey little beast! It's been an absolute life saver.

Speaking of work.
Yeah, I'm still waiting for the other job to open up. The supervisor there is still telling me as soon as he's able to "get rid of this idiot" he'll be able to hire me to replace him. But this is a company that actually has a process for firing. Have to make multiple complaints to HR, have write ups and evidence and that sort of thing. I guess it's red tape stuff to avoid wrongful terrination suits. Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to the change of pace. Less professional responsibility but more work and more resources to get the job done with. I won't be at as high a risk of losing my licenses should I have a sewer spill due to unmaintained equipment.

Glad you could stop by for a visit SHC and good to see that all is going pretty good with the family. I know you can't wait to get out of the job you got right now but sounds like the other job has to work real close with HR to fire anyone. You been doing any fishing lately ? Oh, I've also made a down payment on a motorcycle. It's an older Honda Shadow 650. It actually belonged to the man I replaced after he passed away, and is now owned by the guy I'm working with, so I've had the opportunity to check it out thoroughly. I'll need to replace the gas tank, battery, and replace or rebuild the carb. May as well replace the fuel lines while I'm at it. It had sat far too long with untreated ethanol fuel in it. I could repair the gas tank, but there's an aftermarket higher capacity tank that looks really nice.

There's actually a decent aftermarket for this bike, and I plan to make good use of it. I plan to bob it and rake it, strip it down and stretch it out. I have an old Ford 8N tractor seat out in the barn I'm thinking of modifying and getting upholstered. Add a round, high effeciency filter or an air scoop. Not sure what, if anything, I'd do with the exhaust.

Howdy from a Cold Central Texas  :surrender:

We started off with cloudy skies and warm temps this morning.  Our forecasted temps for the day were 26 - 68dgrs with 89% humidity.  We presently have light showers with high winds from the North and  falling temps.  Depending on which news station you watch some are indicating temps in the morning will be below 10dgrs  :shocking:  :blue

I now have a cold with all these dang temp changes.  I went and picked up some Night Quill Cold Med's.  I'll more than like go to bed early tonight.  It was a quiet day at work.  My team worked in their individual areas.  I spent most of the morning helping out a couple leads with some computer issues.   Tomorrow the Lil Darling and Knotheads will return  ::)

SHC; Sorry to hear of the lost.  When you get you bike make sure you take some pictures of it.  I hope your back gets to feeling better also.  Good luck also in getting that new job.  Yep now days you got to have a well documented history on a person prior to getting them fired.

Lip; I was checking out the weather and you guys up North are fixing to get hammered.  Hope its not too bad in yours and Rodney's area.

Rodney; Guess you had better get the Snow Blower out and dust it off.  Looks like you guys are fixing to get dumped on.  Wow that a lot of history that can be shared over some drinks.  Maui is a beautiful place the wife and I spent the week there back in April of 2014.

Well you got all Winter to think about down sizing that boat and gear.  Good luck with your decision.  There have been days when I though about selling my Stratos and just keeping the G3.  But I remember when I was 16yrs old watching Bill Dance and all those old Bassmasters TV shows. I wanted a high performance bass boat so bad I could taste it.  I had a few friends I was stationed with that had bought new boats and a short time later they had to sell them.  They all came down on orders for over sea assignments.

That right there was the main reason I never bought one while I was on active duty.  I couldn't see the sense in making payments on something that was in storage.  So I'm going to hang on too both of them until I can't fish anymore.

Bud; You get that new trolling motor installed yet?

Guys I hope the nasty weather isn't to harsh on Ya'll.  Be safe in your travels now.  I hope tomorrow is a better day for all of youns.

Donald, the trolling motor is not here yet.  Too bad today would have been a great day to do the install.  It was 75 today and a very light breeze and sunny skies.  Gonna be cold until the middle of next week.  I would say my first opportunity to tinstall will be around the 19th or 20th.  Big cold front hitting here tomorrow afternoon with temps dropping into the high 20s.  Also a lot of rain is forecasted ahead of the fron so tomorrow afternoon looks like a wash out.

Got some errands to run tomorrow.  Pick up my new readers and then off to walmart to pick up some prescriptions.   My wife is still not able to drive so I have to take her to church on Wednesday and then pick her up about 4 hours later.  She still is not sleeping and this has resulted in a very grumpy woman.  The death of her best friend has really hit her hard so I am just trying to be as supportive as I can and believe me it is difficult when she is just so angry and or confused about everything.  Tough deal for sure.

Good morning everyone and the  ~sun ~sun is out and it's 10* but feels like -5 with the wind chill (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/8334/RtGoHE.gif) I'm going to have to go out and start the cars to let them warm up here soon. My van I'm going to have to take to the gas station and put some more gas in it cause I don't know how much gas is in it since my gas gauge hasn't worked right in years. When it gets this cold your suppose to keep it above 1/2 a tank to keep the lines from freezing but first I have to get them started. lo Donald sorry to hear you caught a cold (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9386/6LaExH.gif) and hope it don't last too long. I saw on the news where it's going to get cold all the way down in your part of the country so break out your cold weather gear. Rodney how y'all doing over your way and is it still (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/166/jdC6rH.gif) Bud sounds like y'all are going to be getting some of this cold stuff also . Keep warm and at least it will be around very long. SHC how y'all doing down your way today? Well let me get started with all I need to get done then get out and do some running around in this dang cold. Be safe and have a good day.

Good afternoon!!! 22, sunny, possible storm tonight into tomorrow morning, up to 5 more inches forecast. The blower works. The wife's car needed a thermostat housing, all set now. I'm on the heating pad now.
SHC, seems that everybody is doing well, that's a good thing. Hope your back is feeling better, take care of it, it's the only one you have.
Bud,  hopefully Mrs. Bud will calm down from the lose of her friend, it's hard losing them, specially as we age.
Donald, we survived another one and the car is all set. I had a dream boat, Ranger 460, now I'm happy with peace and quite on the water,  I don't do tournaments any more, it's to clear my head,  and be outside, I like to try different things, it's not so much about the catching as it is about the learning.
Have a great rest of the day!!!

Good evening from Belton, Texas  ;)

Its cold here in Central Texas  :surrender:  We started the day off with forecasted temps of 23 - 42dgrs with 39% humidity.  We had Gusty North winds howling most of the day which kept the temps in mid teens.  As the winds calmed down the wind chills rose up to the mid 20's low 30's.  We didn't get the rain like it was forecasted and the single digit temps either  ~c~

Our forecasted temps for the rest of the week will range 34 - 66dgrs.  You gotta love these Texas Winters  ~shade

Not a bad day at school today.  The kids pretty much behaved themselves.  We had an unannounced Lock Down this afternoon.  Our school district force protection team showed and conducted the drill.  We did a good job reacting to it.  I just hope we don't have to ever do it for real.

Rodney; Glad to hear you got the wife's car fixed in time and the snow blower was operational.  Hope you didn't over do it getting that snow cleared out.    I concur with your thoughts about just being outdoors and clearing the head.  The only tournaments I fish are the Fishing For Freedom event and if possible I'll fish the UBCS yearly event.  Other than that I'm just happy being on the water enjoying life.

Lip;  You need to get you an Auto-Start for your van.  I had one installed on my wife's Durango when we lived in Alaska.  She would start it from inside the house and it would be nice and warm when she got inside.  Sure hope the cold weather isn't there for good yet.

Bud; Hope ya'll cold front isn't as bad as everyone else's that around you.  Ours here isn't too bad I'm glad we didn't get the rain or the single digit cold weather.  Sorry to hear of the wife's best friend passing.  She going to need some time to get over this.  Hopefully she won't be to difficult to be around.  We all wish you and her the best.

To everyone have a pleasant day tomorrow.  Be safe in traveling in this cold and snowy weather now.

Lip, low for last night was forecast at 27°. not sure if we hit that, but it dang sure felt like it! And it was windy!
We did some smoke testing today at work. That's where we pull off a manhole lid, place a blower machine on top of the hole and use it to fill the sewer system with smoke. This helps to find points of infiltration in the sewer, in this case, points where rainwater can flow in. We found a massive infil point. It's a broken off 4" clean-out. In a 5 foot deep hole. In a low area that a farm field drains into. We've been draining a massive farm field into a section of sewer served by a single 3 horsepower pump. This is an area that already has 140 homes on it, and this pump station is only designed to handle about 40 homes with TWO pumps working.

WOW. No wonder it gets so overwhelmed. It's already trying to pump three times as much volume as it's supposed to without the rainwater infil. Actually, six times as much, since it's supposed to have two pumps.

But yes, I got to spend all day hiking up and down the streets, lugging that machine around, pulling manhole lids, putting them back, and documenting our findings...  in near freezing temps and biting winds that I swear were hitting up to 30mph. It was only about a mile and a half, but it's a slow process.

Lip, I agree with Donald, you need a remote starter, I wish I had one on my wife's car, next week into the 40s. ;D ;D
SHC, maybe you should shoot the guy stopping you from getting the other job. :-* :-* :-*

In another week or so I'm going to get a battery powered leaf blower to remove snow, during the winter most of the snow is "dry" enough to be lifted by the wind and the leaf blower will do a good job of it along with cleaning off the vehicles, at my age I'm becoming all about easy and it's easier handling that than the snow blower, I'll save that for when it's needed.
Have a great day, stay warm!!!

Rodney, my wife has one of them remote start cars. It's freaking nice! I believe it has an electric heater built into the system so it can warm up the car quicker, but I don't know. I do know it heats up quick!

The good news is the new trolling motor is in transit via Fed Ex.  Scheduled to arrive tomorrow.  I have to hang out here until it arrives because a signature is required for this shipment.  Don't plan on installing until November 20th or 21st depending upon the weather.  Not gonna be too good until then.  Most likely will remove the old motor on the 20th and begin the new install on the 21st.  I guess the lag will give me time to be sure I understand fully what all needs to be done.  I have installed Motorguide motors but this will be my very first Minn Kota.  Don't really expect too much difference.

The Mrs. still is not sleeping and in her sleep deprived state some weird things happen.  Hope she can get back on schedule soon.  She is currently unable to drive and has to be watched very closely.  She seems to have these spells twice a year or if something very stressful happens.  She is taking the death of her best friend very hard. I am seeing some improvement but not quite recovered as yet.

Good day everyone and it's 20* but feels like 6* with the wind chill. It's overcast but no more snow has fallen. Donald glad to hear the kids are being good for the time being . They must be thinking up their next targets.  lo As far as putting a remote start on my old rusting out 2002 van it just wouldn't be worth it. Rodney I guess it's time to put the boat away for the winter now huh.  :'( That's a lot of snow,  ~sweat I would hug my camel but it done left town heading south.  lo Bud hope your wife gets better soon and will keep her in my prayers. I know your excited to get your new TM in and dig in to get it on the boat. SHC  my next car will have one in it but my old van just not worth the money to get one put in. Hope everyone has a great day and be safe out there.

Good evening to everyone,

We started the day off with rain and it rained most of the day here across Central Texas  ~rain  Our forecasted temps were 32 / 45dgrs with 83% humidity.  The forecasts for the upcoming week our lows will be 32 / 75dgrs.  Texas Winters cold in the morning nice and warm in the afternoons  :)

It was a pleasant day at school today not much happening with the Lil Darlings and Knotheads.  I think the cold weather has a grip on them  :-\  Anyway they've been pretty good these past couple days.

I took a big dose of Night Quill yesterday after getting home and I was out like a light.  I slept for 11.5 hours last night.  Woke up at 5am ready to go.  The cold is getting better everyday I'll be glad when it finally gone though.

Lip; Sounds like Winter has set in at your place.  Hopefully the snow fall will be limited.  If you decide to upgrade your next vehicle you ought to keep the Remote Idea in your mind.  They are pretty handy especially during nasty weather.  Are you and John going be making another fishing trip this year?

Bud; Hope your wife gets to feeling better soon buddy.  I was reading one of your other posts reference your trolling motor arrival.  To bad you don't have a carport overhead cover in your driveway you could always park the Ranger under it and work on it.  Does your HOA allow those to be constructed in your area?  I know some HOAs you got to have permission etc before installation occurs.

To me there isn't that much difference in installing a Motor Guide / Minn Kota.  I have both and the only difference is the foot pedal operations.  Have fun and enjoy the new toy  ;)

SHC; Hey there buddy.  Hope your feeling a lot better today.  While we lived in Alaska the last act prior to getting out of the wife's vehicle was to turn on the defroster / heater during the Winter months.  When she hit that remote starter and the vehicle was running it was warming up inside for her.  Those remote starters are nice for sure.

Rodney; I wasn't for sure on what type of snow (Wet or Dry) you got up in your parts.  That leaf blower would do the trick as long as it wasn't too thick I think.  When we lived in Fairbank (Ft. Wainwright) Alaska the snow there was a dry snow.  Once we moved down to Anchorage (Ft. Richardson) Alaska that was a real wet snow.  I didn't have a snow blower while at Wainwright but that first snow we got at Richardson I went and purchased one.  It was a life saver for sure.

Guys you all have a good day tomorrow.  Be safe out traveling during these early Wintery days.

Donald, no structures like you mention are allowed in our development.  Not really very popular around here on the coast as they don't do all that well when it is hurricane time.  Rural inland areas do seem to have more of them.  Not much in the way of zoning or wind zone rules for them to deal with.

Evening everyone and sorry for being so late in stopping by but I have been busy on the phone with the insurance company..the DMV..my auto repair shop  ~shade It's not what you might be thinking.  ;D I got a call yesterday from my friend John (that I go fishing with every spring) and Penny sister had a stroke almost a year ago and couldn't drive her car anymore and it was just setting in John's driveway and they were paying insurance on it . I told him if they decided to sell it let me know. I know they were holding out hopping the Crystal would get better so I didn't push them about it. Well like I said I got a call from John yesterday and he wanted to know if I still wanted the car. It's a 2007 Chevy Impala in great shape. I said I sure do. So I"m catching a train next Tuesday for the three hour train ride to John's. That's why I spent so much time on the phone with all them people getting everything in order and to find out what had to be done. Here it is Diana's new car. Not bad for $1,400 and around 70,000 miles on it.

(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/5642/n0ffYW.jpg) (https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9594/jdvmLv.jpg)(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/3778/W4JagW.jpg)(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9584/6Bkdxo.jpg)(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/5484/BpVmxd.jpg)
Don it don't have a remote start on it but I will have one installed when I get back home. The reason it looks so good is because it was kept under a carport most of it's life .

Lip nice wheels.  I think you will be happy.  I have owned a few of those and they performed well for our field sales folks.  Comfortable on the road and performed just fine and economical too.  I suppose we probably bought a couple dozen of that model over the years when the Crown Vic fords were no longer available.  We were not happy with a smaller car at first but it worked out just fine.

As forecasted is was a cold, wet and windy day here at the beach.  High today about 55 and the same thing expected for tomorrow with continued rain, wind and cool temps.  we spent the day doing some errands and shopping in readiness for a get together this Sunday evening and also some prep for the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner.  We are having some guests over for the dinner and this year they are mostly old folks who are alone and seems to be excited about joining us for a traditional dinner.  It should be a good day.  We have even invited the guy that fixed my boat motor this summer but have not heard back from him as yet.  As I recall he too is without family in the area.  We hope everyone we invited can make it.

Good morning to all,

We're starting the day off with Blue Bird Skies with forecasted temps of 37 - 64dgrs with 82% humidity  ~sun

Long day at work yesterday.  One of my day team members called in sick so I cleaned her area.  I worked a High School Football Playoff game last night at our stadium.  It got to be cold by half time.  I think it weird how they do high school playoff here in Texas.  No Team has home field advantage both teams have to travel to a neutral site.  Beings our high school team is out of the playoffs our stadium got picked to host a game.   We have another game this coming Friday night.  I will say this about visiting out of area teams.  The fan aren't as messy as our home and conference folks are.

The wife and I will spend today shopping and looking around for who knows what  ~shade

Bud; That's a nice gesture inviting those folks over for Thanksgiving.  I'm sure they'll enjoy the time spent with you and your wife and the other guest.

Lip; That's a great looking vehicle you got there.  I'm sure the wife is going to enjoy driving it.   I've never own a Chevy Impalas but have rented them while traveling.  I though they were nice comfortable vehicles to drive.  They seemed to get pretty decent gas mileage also.  Good luck with it.  You going to sneak in a  day or two fishing with John while visiting with him?

Rodney; You didn't over do it with the snow removal did ya.  I hope the aches and pains haven't gotten you down either.

To everyone have a really pleasant and safe Saturday.  Enjoy your family time together.

Morning everyone and it's 32* and overcast suppose to get up to 40* and overcast. Bud I drove it a couple of times and it does drive nice, I'm just going to have to figure out how to work all the dodads in it that I'm not use too. Like the cruse control and different control knobs for the heat. I'm going to have to have John or Penny to run me through how all that stuff works. That's a good thing y'all are doing inviting all them folks over for Thanksgiving dinner.  8) Donald sounds like the teams fans respect other peoples area and don't leave big messes. No fishing John done put his boat away for the winter. Hope the Mrs can find all them who knows what without to much trouble.  lo lo Rodney hows the old body doing today and you still have all that snow ? The little we had is just about all gone. Hope everyone has a great day and be safe out there.

Good morning from Belton, Texas  :)

We're starting the day off with mostly sunny skies and forecasted temps of 39-71dgrs with 92% humidity  ~sun

We're off to church here in a little bit.  Our lunch destination hasn't been determined as of yet  :-\

Had a great day out shopping with the wife.  Each 3rd Saturday of the month they close off the downtown Court Square streets and set up vendor's tents.  All the stores fronts are open and usually if the weather is nice the area is fully of shoppers.  The weather was great and the vendors were all busy.

We stopped and had lunch at Miller's BBQ.   Afterwards we continued to walk around working lunch off. It was so nice weather wise we made a road trip up to Waco.  We stopped in Cabela's and looked around.  My wife picked up a new pair of boots.  I didn't find anything I needed.  On the way home we stopped at Academy while there I picked up a H2O Express Cold weather Rain Suit.  I'm taking this one to work and using it there.  My old rain suit I had there gave up the ghost last year.  I'd been using my BPS Gore-Tex suit out of Stratos at work.  Now that the replacement has been purchased I can put it back in the Stratos.

Lip;  You have a safe road trip back from John's with the wife's new car.  Its always exciting getting something new and having to figure out whet this button does etc.  ;)   The wife didn't have any problems yesterday shopping  lo  I carried her stuff around for her so she could shop for more stuff  ;)  It was a good day spending time with her :)

Rodney; Hope things are well at your place buddy and the aches and pains haven't gotten you down.

Bud; You got the Ranger sitting in the drive way yet?  I know you got to be chopping at the bit to get that new trolling motor installed.

To everyone have a Blessed Sunday and enjoy the day with the families.

Donald, starting to look like I can bring the Ranger home on Tuesday and do the trolling motor install on Wednesday if the weather holds.  Thursday looks good too if I need an extra day.

Today is dry but right windy with gusts on the coast that could reach up to 50 mph.  Current temp is 54 with highs expected to maybe get to 60 but not likely.

Today will be a bit busy with some social responsibilities.  I am not real comfortable being in a group of people and especially people I don't really know but I will survive.  My wife thrives on this stuff so I will do my duty and try to fit in.  We are attending a small get together at a person's house that recently lost his wife and he has invited some folks over to view a video presentation he created that depicts his life as a National Geographic photographer.  He has travelled the world taking pictures on assignment and the presentation will probably be quite interesting.  He did a video presentation at his wife's memorial service that was quite good as well.  Hopefully the social contact and having friends over will help him keep his life on track as he continues to move along with his life.

Evening all!!! 17 this morning 42 now, sunny all day, breezy, nice day. My knee has been acting up and I've been a bit busy catching up on a few things here.
Lip, nice looking wheels there, congrats!!! I'm hoping to pull the cover next week and put the tarp over the boat for the winter.
Bud, I don't think you'll find swapping out TMs to be too bad. It'll take a little time, possibly a few colorful words maybe, but you'll get it. Hope Mrs. Bud gets back to herself soon!!!
SHC, how's your back doing? Hopefully better!!!
Donald, good to hear the little darlings are behaving, may it last a long time!!! Sounds like a really nice trip you and the Mrs. took. I got a sonar unit back from Lowrance, I'll check it out when I swap the cover for the tarp.

Just about got all my ducks in a row for my trip down to John's tomorrow to get Diana's new car. I will call the DMV down there on the morning  since they are closed on Mondays just to make sure I have everything I need to make it happen. Donald sounds like you and the Mrs had a great day together. Bud hope the weather holds so you can get your new TM installed. Rodney sorry your knee has been giving you trouble. Sounds like your putting your girl to bed for the winter. Hope everyone has a great day and be safe out there.

Another one of those bone chilling days here at the beach.  Although the current temp is 53 the humidity is listed a above 90% which means the cold goes through your bones.  Southern cold is plenty miserable even when the temps are not all that bad.  Lows tonight in the upper 30s.  Tomorrow to be a bit better and improving thru the week with no more rain in the forecast until Saturday.  Hopefully this cold stuff will go away for a while.

Bud, I've argued with my yankee ex wife over this before: Northern cold vs Southern cold.
Before she moved to Mississippi with me, she'd talk smack. "Oh it barely gets below freezing? That's nothing, yadda yadda yadda yadda"
Basically, she just KNEW those single digit and sometimes negative temps that she grew up with HAD to be worse than 30-40° in MS.

Until she experienced her first winter in the South.

"Why is everything soggy? Why do my bones hurt? How do you live like this?"
Yeah. I'd already experienced dry, northern mountain cold and grew up in the South. I tried to warn her.

Now she'll tell anyone she prefers colder winter up north rather than a wet winter down south.

I don't think I know anyone who has experienced both and doesn't prefer a drier, northern winter. Heck, I know quite a few people who have moved NORTH to get away from the cold in the South.

Good evening to everyone,

We had Clear skies with forecasted temps of 44 - 71dgrs with 46% humidity across Central Texas
today  ~sun

It was a quiet day on the school front today which I take any day  ~shade

SHC; I'll take a Southern Winter (Texas) anytime over those Northern Winters  ;) So have you gotten that new job yet?

Bud; One thing about living near the coast the Winters always seem colder.  Hang in there buddy you'll be sweating there before you know it  ~shade

Lip; Have a pleasant trip down and back from John's.  Good luck with the transactions at the DMV office too.  It can be painful if your paperwork isn't in order.

Rodney; Hope your day was a good one with minimum aches and pains.

To everyone have a relaxing evening and a great day tomorrow   ;)

Don, the new job (I'm assured) is a sure thing. Only problem is, their HR department is going above and beyond to avoid problems like wrongful termination suits. So the guy I'm to replace is back on probation and no longer allowed to take his work truck home. Which means he has an extra two hours of commuting from home to office to get the truck, then from office to home after dropping it off. The supervisor told me "Don't worry, he'll screw up again soon."

But quite frankly, even if it doesn't materialize real soon, I'm quitting anyway. I've let myself be backed into a career threatening situation, and if I don't cut my losses I could be facing big consequences.

Good morning everybody!!! 33 when I got up, high 30s later, slowly warming up, 41 yesterday, by Thursday maybe 50. Still can't do the elliptical because of the knee, just has to make it to New Years when I have my new insurance. Anniversary coming up, Thursday, trying to figure out where we want to do an overnite, we'll be driving and site seeing, maybe stop at several wineries and whatnot.
Lip, good luck with the car, wish you well buddy!!!
Bud, I'm not sure I'd want to live anywhere where you're wet from sweat in the summer and wet from humidity in the winter, generally in the winter my arthritis, same in the summer, spring and fall are my most troublesome times.
SHC, hopefully you'll find a decent job quickly. I never trusted sure things, the guy's still there and reality says he is until he isn't with no guarantee of when he isn't. How's your back doing?
Donald, another quiet day is always good, take them when you can, that's what I always did, made the bad ones better.
Have a great day, stay warm!!!

Beautiful day across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 58-71dgrs with 50% humidity   ~sun

We got a front moving through tonight it's bringing some rain and a little wind with it.  Looks like we might be getting wet for the next 4 days  ~rain :-\  The temps are going to be ranging from 41 - 76dgrs with some moderate winds.

SHC; Good luck with the new job search.  I wish you well and hope that you find the right job.  Keep us posted if you will.

Lip; You have a pleasant and safe trip.  Hope all goes well for ya at the DMV.

Rodney; Hope the knee gets to feeling better for ya buddy.  Happy Anniversary to you and the wife.  Enjoy that special time with the wife.  Make sure you two get some pictures together also.  Be safe in your travels.

Bud; Its almost Thursday  ;)  You got the tools all layed out and ready to tear into that Ranger front deck?  Have fun getting the trolling motors switched out.  I love tinkering with my boats  ;)  ~shade

Guys you all have a great day tomorrow.  Be safe in your travels if your out and about.

Good morning all!!! 39 headed to 41, cloudy, just a blah type of day. Need to cover the boat with the winter cover after lunch, blah. Friday we're headed off to who knows where, I do know BPS will be one of the stops. Pics will be few, she doesn't like having her picture taken so I don't. lo
Bud, how goes the TM, making progress or waiting on parts?
Lip, have a good trip buddy , be safe and enjoy!!!
SHC, I think I'd give them the "I'm leaving in 2 weeks" letter, no sense in burning your bridges, let them do it and look like the bad guys.
Donald, little darlings behaving? It's going to be dry this afternoon so the boat goes into hibernation. :'( The knee is the knee, I knew it was coming, just didn't think it would be this soon, the Doctor told me and I saw the pictures that the cartilage was skinny and getting skinnier, he told me that most likely the next he had to cut it would be for a replacement. I'm still doing the gym, just my upper body, better than nothing.
Have a great day, stay warm!!!

The new trolling motor is on the boat.  Have not done the electrical as yet because the new circuit breaker did not arrive.  All the mechanical stuff is finished just have to wire up the bow plug and install the new circuit breaker.  I will also be doing a screw down for the foot pedal and running the transducer wire tomorrow.

This took me a lot longer than expected mostly because of mounting the trolling motor mount.  Did not have to drill anymore holes so that was nice but sill a tough spot to reach when putting on the kep nuts and flat washers.  I need longer and thinner arms but I got it done with only a couple scrapes on my hand from the fiberglass inside the bow.

I will have everything done tomorrow pending delivery of the new circuit breaker but I will be able to fire up the motor on low speed just to check it out while waiting for the breaker.

Weather here was good after a cold start.  This afternoon was in the low 60s so it was a pleasant day to be working on the boat.

Good evening from Belton, Texas  8)

We had mostly clear skies with forecasted temps of 66 - 75dgrs across Central Texas today  ~sun

Quiet day at school for the most part.  I was just busy enough to make the day go by.

Bud; Congrats on getting the new trolling motor mounted to the Ranger.  Didn't any of the marine dealerships in and around your area not have that circuit breaker for ya?  That kind sux having to wait on a part to come in when you're so close to having everything done.

Rodney; Enjoy the get away with your wife.  Be careful while at the BPS  lo  Sure sorry to hear about the wear and tear on the knee.  Hopefully you not putting extra stress from exercising will buy you some time.

To everyone have a great day tomorrow.  Be safe in your travels also.

Good evening to everyone

It was mostly cloudy today across Central Texas.  Our forecasted temps were 34-73dgrs with 84% humidity.  It did sprinkle on and off most of the day.

It a slow day for me but the knot heads and lil darling were showing out.  Tomorrow is the last day of school prior to their Thanksgiving Break.   They'll be off for 10days till around the 2nd of Dec.  We had (2) 8th graders get into a fight during lunch today.  I don't know whets going to happen with them.  Both were in the principals office for a while and both had their parents show up.  Can't be good for them.

Lip hope you're having  a pleasant trip down and back from John's with your wife's new car.  Rodney hope the aches and pains are held in check.  You and your wife enjoy your anniversary outing.  Bud you launch the Ranger today to try out that new trolling motor?

To everyone have a great day tomorrow.

Donald, not much was done on the troller today.  The circuit breaker was not delivered even though tracking said is was out for delivery.  Did not happen.  Decided to put on the transducer and found out the hose clamp that was on my motorguide was too small for the minn kota so i had to run over to home depot and pick up another clamp.  The transducer is now in place and tomorrow I will run the transducer cable and secure it to the motor and then button up the bow panel.  If the circuit breaker comes in I will install it.

Temp today was near 70 with the same expected for tomorrow.  Rain coming in late Saturday night and temps will once again drop to below normal for next week.  I would like to finish up on the boat but it is not a disaster if I don't get finished. If the breaker does not arrive I am still gonna run the motor just to be sure it is working.

Have a bunch of house cleaning to do before thanksgiving so that has to be my top priority to keep peace in the house with She who shall be obeyed.  She still isn't sleeping much and that makes her a tad grouchy so I am trying to be extra good.  ;D

Good evening to everyone,

We had a beautiful but chilly day across Central Texas today  ~sun   Our forecasted temps were 38 -  56dgrs with 64% humidity.  We had lots of sun shining over us today.

It was another quiet day at work.  Everyone is gone now for the next 10 days.  We have to work Mon > Wed next week.  My team will be working in their individual areas getting things done they normally don't have time to get done.

We're off here in a little while to take in a Jazz concert event over at Mary Hardin Baylor's campus.  They have a great Performing Arts Center there and have shown some great venues since it's opening.  Tomorrow we'll be attending Round 1 of the Div III Football Playoffs at Crusader Stadium.    The Crusader's finished the season undefeated once again.  Their opponent in this round of playoffs is the University Redlands Bulldogs from Redland, California.

I hope everyone had a blessed day today and a relaxing evening tonight.

A nice weather day here at the beach.  Temps in the low 70s with a very slight breeze.  Finished up the trolling motor install this afternoon after usps delivered the new circuit breaker.  Was a bit of a pain due to the location of the existing circuit breaker but we got it done.  Have not dressed the battery compartment wires yet but will do so in the morning.  Want to test the motor first before I tie the final wires down.  Everything else is done and buttoned up at the bow panel and the wire runs in place and secured for the electronics.  Even though I had run the motor with the old breaker I want to run it again with the new breaker just to be sure all is well.

It was a fun job and not too much trouble just a few things were more stubborn than I wanted but all in all this old one eyed person was able to get it done even though it was a bit more time consuming than expected.  If everything test good then I will fire up the battery charger and get ready for some fishing on Monday.  Then I have to put the boat in storage for a few days to make room for the guests to park on Thanksgiving day.

The trolling motor installation is complete and the new circuit breaker is in place.  Wires have been dressed and zip tied where needed and the boat is now on the charger getting ready for a trip to the river most likely on Monday.  All systems have been tested and all appears well pending the on water test.

Current temp this morning is 70 skies are overcast with rain expected this afternoon and evening.  No heavy stuff predicted just light showers.  Overnight temps last night was 55 so not cold at all.  Front coming through for Thanksgiving day bringing cooler temps for a day and then temps returning to the mid 60s on Monday and Tuesday.

It is Saturday and I remember the days when that was significant now I live in a world where everyday is Saturday.  Retirement is a good thing except the pay is not all that great.

A busy week ahead.  Going to the river to check out the new troller and fish for a little bit.  Have to clean up the boat and take it back to storage until after Thanksgiving.  Of course a major house cleaning this week in readiness for our guests on Thanksgiving.  I guess this is all the usual stuff you have to do when you have guests in the house.  No family will be here and our guests are people we know are alone during the holidays and we sincerely hope they enjoy their meal.  We are not cooking but ordering food from our traditional source of K&W Cafeteria.  We have been buying there Family Feast meal packages for many years and it has always been good.  No turkey just ham for the main dish.

The Mrs. won a complete turkey with all the fixings on a local radio station contest.  It will feed 10-12 people and we have identified a family that will receive the meal.  I have to pick up both the K&W meal feast and the Sticky Fingers thanksgiving meal on Wednesday.  I am just glad we had someone who wanted the full turkey dinner.

So the biggest deal this week is trying to make the house look like no one lives here.  Everyone have a nice day today and hope your plans for the Holidays go well.

Good morning all!!! 43 headed to near 50, possible showers, 50 tomorrow, partly cloudy, Wednesday low 40s, rain. I put the boat into hibernation last Wednesday, did a job on my back and knee, we decided to do a day trip Saturday, nice ride to BPS, then off to Sauders in Waterloo, lunch. Sauders is where I bought the man cave, it's always a nice trip by itself. They have a country store with all kinds of country products, pickles of all descriptions, meats including real smoke cured bacon, dutch baked goods, flours that would make any baker happy, canned products, stuff you don't find normally. They have a cafe both hot and cold sandwiches, subs, soup the usual condiments and sides but done country style. We ordered grilled meatloaf sandwiches with their sauce, lettuce, onion, cheese and mayo, delicious!!! :) My wife took a nap on the way home. lo We got home in time for some rest, I did it with a heating pad, then we out for an early dinner. It was a nice day. The only thing I bought at BPS was a camp mirror for the shower for shaving, I did spend some time in the fishing dept drooling all over the items on display, checked out a couple of rods I'm thinking about for dedicated ned rig rods, 7'2" medlite CARBONLITE rods and a couple of 7 and 8 foot MICROLITE rods for panfish.
I see the pain mangement Doc in 4 months for a followup, while my back bad after working on the boat it only took a couple of days for it to bounce back, gotta love the injections.
Lip, are you home now? How's that new to you car?
Bud good to hear you have the TM in and ready and that didn't have any major problems, hope your trip today is a good one and everything works as it should.
Donald, a couple of weeks with no little darlings will be boring, hope you can manage. lo ;) Goofy hours for my wife this week, work today, off tomorrow, work Wednesday, off for Thanksgiving, work Friday and Saturday, remember when I used to have to work Fridays after a holiday, could be a pain but the deliveries needed to be done for the hospital and a couple of other customers, normally out by noon but the last several years he kept the store open all day until he found out more customers weren't coming in, since I had the key I could close the place up. ^-^ ~xyz It became just a paycheck.
Have a great day, stay warm!!!
Rodney

Good evening to all,

Beautiful day across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 61-81dgrs with 33% humidity.  We had lots of sun shining today  ~sun ~c~

It was a quiet day at work.  I spent most of my day attending a meeting with my supervisor and (2) vendors.  They were demonstrating their waxing and stripping products.  My team spent their day working in their individual areas.  Tomorrow will be more of the same (-) me attending a meeting.

Rodney;  Sounds like an enjoyable trip there with the wife.  I like visiting those old country stores.  We have a few of them left here in Texas.  My last trip to the BPS shop I checked out those Carbonilite Rods also.   They seem to be a pretty descent rod for the price.   Yes sir peace and quiet for a while but I'll manage  ;)

Alrighty to everyone in the UB family have a pleasant day tomorrow.  Tight lines if you heading out on the water.  Be safe in your travels if out on the road ways.

Got to the ramp this morning only to find it closed and construction work happening.  I knew they were going to re pave the parking lot on this coming Monday but I was surprised they were doing the prep work today.  Oh well.  Went back home and unloaded the boat and put on the travel cover and took the boat back to storage after a brief stop to fill the boat gas tanks.  Wanted to give the troller another run just to make sure I have everything fixed after discovering an incorrect battery wiring.  I am sure it is ok and I have run the motor on the mount and it appears to be running strong.  I have tested the circuit with a meter and I have a good power source at just over 25 VDC.  So I am sure all is well.  The boat will return home on Sunday or Monday for some more time on the water depending on the weather.  Expecting more 70 degree weather next week.  I was time constrained this morning and did not have time to go to another ramp.

Lots to do today anyway.  Already been to the grocery store and on the way there the wife and I had lunch at Greg's in Garden city.  Always a great place to eat even though it is just a local bar/restaurant deal.  Still some odds and ends to wrap up and then tomorrow we have to pick up our Thanksgiving meals from K&W (a Kennedy tradition) and then over to Sticky Fingers to pick up a full turkey dinner that the Mrs won on a local radio station.  We are giving that full meal (serves 8-10) to a local family in need this Holiday.

Good evening to everyone,

We had mostly cloudy skies today across Central Texas.  Our forecasted temps were 47-70dgrs with 87% humidity.  We did have some rain showers that didn't amount to anything around mid morning that lasted into the late afternoon.  All the rain activity we had is now heading towards NW Louisiana.

Not a real busy day for me anyways at work.  I had to go to one of the local parts store and get a 25amp fuse.  One of our floor polishers decided to quit working.  After going through a series of checks it was determined the fuse blew.  I reattached a leg to a student desk and that was it for me.  I spent the rest of the day in my office on my computer.

Bud; To bad about the ramp being closed.  You'll be out there soon I'm sure.  You and wife have a pleasant gather during this upcoming Thanksgiving Day.  My wife and I will enjoy a peaceful quiet dinner here at home.  She's baking a ham and some other dishes just for the two of us.

Lip; You made it home yet?

Rodney; Hope all's well with you my good man.

To everyone in the UB family have a pleasant and relaxing evening.  I hope tomorrow is a better day for you all.

Good late afternoon to everyone  ~shade

We've got overcast skies across Central Texas today.  Our forecasted temps were 47 - 56dgrs with 32% humidity.  We got a front moving in from the West and its bringing rain with it ~rain  Looking at the extended forecast its showing rain for the next 5 days.  Go figure I'm off work till Monday and it's going to be raining everyday  ::)

We got everything cleaned and all the hallways have been buffed and looking nice and shiny once again.  By lunch time on Monday it will looked like we haven't done anything  :(

There is nothing planned for tomorrow except to enjoy the delicious meal my wife is fixing.  Later on I'm going to watch some football and eat some more :)

Lip; Glad to see that you made it home safely.

Rodney; Good luck getting your truck back up 100%  Have you went to see what new trucks are costing?  I have and it's not cheap.      Your Thanksgiving meal sounds delicious.  We're not having a turkey this year.  My wife has gotten a ham and she's fixing an assortment of grilled vegetables to go with it.  She is going to fix me a pan of dressing though ;)

Bud; You gotten everything together for your guest arrival tomorrow?

To everyone have a Blessed Day tomorrow and enjoy the family time together.  Happy Thanksgiving

Beautiful bright sunny day here at the beach.  Temps just now reached 70 but will be dropping tonight but still seasonal temps.  Guests have just left and now I get to begin the clean up of our Thanksgiving meal.  Everyone seems to have enjoyed the meal and not many leftovers to deal with and that is a good thing.  After the cleaning I plan on taking the rest of the day off and do nothing.

Current temp is 65 and that is about it for today.  Rain coming in tomorrow with warm temps in the 70s but then dropping to below normal on Monday.   Just a couple errands to run today but no big deal.  Tomorrow I have to unpack the Christmas decorations for the inside of the house and most likly have to get the stuff packed away in the garage as well.  If it was up to me the outside of the house would not be decorated but it is not up to me this is something the Mrs. wants so it shall be done.
