Just wonder, because thats what my heaviest pole is rigged up with. 30# Thread sized reed bustin spiderwire. ;D
I'm not exactly sure exactly what spiderwire is, it's some sort of fiber braid. The ends of it splay outward into white puffs.
Edit: Did some searches, ill see how the stuff works out for me, if it cuts itself, oh well!

I like to use it with My open-face reel I have found it to be very effective. On my baitcaster, I had a few problem if I was casting long.

Remember if you are using this style of line to us a Palomar knot. This line is extremely durable and make sure you have a sharp cutting tool with you.

once you get time you should register here Markus :) there is more benefits and its just a great place to be!

Spiderwire is just one of many braided lines on the market. Braids are for the most part very limp and plyable, they tend to float or at least have a much slower sink rate. The advice on knots is right on as I said the line is limp and as such other knots will slip rather then brake but whats the difference because you lost your fish ether way. In my experience braids cut in on them self easier then other types of line but with proper setup & as long as you remember to strip out the line after a hang-up or setting the hook the strength of the line is incredible.

I used to use Spiderwire, didn't like it...then tried FireLine, and still I didn't like it...Now I'm using ProLine 30# test and I love it!
-
i have tried several braids (spyderwire , powerpro , etc ) i found them to be a total pain in the rear. i think that i am just a mono kind of guy
-
I tryed spiderwire when it first came out.. It was ok.. till I got a backlash then it was a mess.. PLus I saw a buddy bust the spool right out of a reel that had the drag to tight when he was trying to unhang a bait. I personally love the florocarbon lines.. P-Line rocks..

I don't like the regular SpiderWire, I like the Fusion. The regular is real bad about digging into itself on the spool and if you get a bad backlash-Forget about it!! It is very strong but not worth it in my book ;)I'll stick with mono til I find a braid I like ;D

Isnt spiderwire bad for the eyes of your rod? thats what i herd.......... ~sweat

Spiderwire works okay I guess, for heavy lures like senkos and spinnerbaits. I didn't spool my line tight enough and the line was spinning on the spool. It was rather rediculous having to take all my line out in the boat and respool on the water.
I caught a 12 incher and my brother got a 14, they were soo FAT! Does anybody know the size and limits on keeping fish for the central oregon coast? I couldn't find any information anywhere. Also don't have a copy of the fishing guide.

When you spool braided line you need to either tape down a couple turns to the reel spool, or use double sided tape, or use a piece of mono that is tied to the spool and then tied to the braid, otherwise it will loosen and slip like you experienced.

I would say...dont keep a bass its your friend ~an~ Keep gar they like being pets :-*

I have been usin braids for a long time and yet have had a problem with the guides, although I make sure my rods use stainless, or ceramic guides, especially the tip guide.
-
i used to use spiderwire but switched to fireline this year. its a little cheaper than the high end spiderwire and ive found that it frays a little less.
-
Spiderwire is great line if use for the aplications it was intended for. Basically any situation that you don't want any stretch. If you are using it I would recommend staying away from crank baits and top water baits, but if you are pitching a jig to heavy cover, you will really like it's feel and strength.
-
I'm using it now, for fishing topwater in the slop...beat out ProLine and LockT and all my mono's
-
I can see where if you are fishing heavy slot it would be advantageous if you have the discipline to not set the hook to early after a strike :-*
-
you fish slop, it's just like fishing a buzz bait...you don't set the hook till you feel the weight of the fish
