Lake Ouachita fishing report

(1/1)

ʇuǝɹq™:
Current Reports around Lake Ouachita are saying the lake temp is in the 80's. The lake level is falling and the water color is clear.  Bass are schooling in the mouths of creeks.  Try a topwater lure and an Alabama rig on timber lines. White bass are schooling in the mouth of most major creeks also and can be caught on topwater lures.  Bream are great on crickets and worms.

If you've been out there leave a post and let us know how you did.

E5Zero:
We spent the week of 6/17-6/23 camping at Big Fir/Housely Point.  This is our 15th year to be there, we may have missed one, but it was where my wife's family went as kids, and we did the same with ours.

Early in the week the wind blew all day, the lake was white capping and made it hard to try and fish points and humps.  I spent a lot of time looking around for brush and fish, did not find much, but did find some bait.

I caught a few schoolies over bait, that was fun, but no good fish under the bait or school bass.  My best fish of the week came off the bank late in the day.  One on a Senko and a couple more on a small jib with Rage Craw.  Best was about 2-1/2 lbs, nice chunk and a good battle.

Water temps were 80-84 depending on the wind and cloud cover.  Water clarity is typical Ouachita in the summer, clear!  I did not night fish, but probably should have thrown a big spinner bait some.

Beautiful lake, be back next summer, if not before.

Thanks for the report! I would bet that lake would be pretty awesome at night.
