AllStar Rod Warranty
« on: July 02, 2012, 09:55:14 AM »

I have been a long time fan and user of AllStar rods.  Does anyone know if they are still honoring their lifetime warranty?  I have a few older rods that have been broken or lost eyes and I have set them aside so I could take them back, but last I heard Academy was no longer replacing them.  Any input would be appreciated.

If you have a older allstar that was still made in Houston I wouldn't give it up for one of the newer rods even if they would replace it . of course if its broken that's a different story but if it just needs a guide replaced I'd just have it done... The older ones were some great rods.

I don't know about the older rods, but I think I remember the Classics I bought are only a year warranty.

And a $9.50 processing fee.

I returned a couple allstar rods to Academy a couple weeks without any problems, but they had the same ones on the shelf.

Some 25 years ago I had a then brand new SJ2 that I was pitching jigs with on Kentucky Lake.  I set the hook on a real hog using a jig and that rod snapped like a twig.  Called AllStar about their "lifetime" warranty and was told to send the rod back along with a check for $50 and they'd be happy to send me a new one.  I didn't bother......
