Adding to what Mike said, Cross also gives me the opportunity to fish lots of different types of water.  The west end gives you grass and trees, while other parts of the lake provides clean banks, rock banks, boat docks, etc.

And since the club voted for a scramble in November....Cross might, possibly, will be considered for the lake of my choice.

Columbus day? A military holiday go figure. Took a couple hours to go and practice my jig fishing and low and behold the jig bite is on at Cross.....

I caught 13 fish with 3 overs all on a jig in the trees. The only real secret was that you had to have the bait right against the tree and if you could shake it along the side of it it was even better. Nothing huge the biggest was just under 4......

Fished Cross once again.....

The spinner bait bite is still working and the jig bite is still working, but now you can add top water to the mix. I guess being it is fall and the water temps are cooling you can do just about what every you like and catch fish. Caught two over 4 yesterday - Laurie caugth one on a top water and I caught the other on a jig. We managed several fish and all were on the three different baits probably caugth 16-17 fish this weekend with 5 overs.....

Fished Cross on Saturday until about 11:30 a.m.  Stayed away from the west end and tried to figure out what it would take to make the fish on the main lake bite.  Caught 7 with one over the slot.  Caught one on a worm and the rest came on a spinnerbait.

Well the west end wasn't where it was at. Fished it from 10am till 4 pm and only managed 3 fish. Missed a couple others but still tough today. I think that the weather stablizing has slowed them back down, we need a good strong cold front. I just might kill a few bugs too

It sounds like I made a decent decision to stay on the main lake.  I don't make good decisions that often.  Part of the reason to stay or at least start on the main lake is that I did not want to run very fast or for very far because I did not want all those damn bugs on the boat.

"BUGS" thats why we went late morning and came off the water early evening. The bugs are the tuffest thing I have seen yet to get off the boat, they put road tar to shame......

And the bugs are why I took it very slow and did not go very far.  I am not dealing with the problems I had after you and I went a few weeks ago.  If they don't go away soon, I may just idle everywhere.

Hey mike I can see why you like cross so much. I haven't consistently cought such a quality of fish in a very very long time. I had 5 slot fish and 1 under in 4 hours, despite the weather. I had 1 on a golden lipless crank Midway on the walkway of a pier, the rest= 7" black powerworm. trees seemed to work the best however I did catch the best one on a flat with no cover or structure or grass. Anyhow thanks for info and directions......Dave the Dope Man

Hey Dave, I'm glad you found the landing, got your sticker, and caught some fish.  How much was the sticker....10 or 20?  Nick and I fished until 10:00....it was cold, it was windy, and it was misty rain.  We caught 5 fish, all on a white spinnerbait.  We had 2 under that would have both weighed, 1 slot fish, and 2 over.  Both of the overs were over 18 inches and one was extremely fat.  Talked to a guy fishing a tournament and he had 4 unders and had caught a couple of short fish, but nothing over.

Cross is awesome. Maybe we can hook up and fish it together one day.

Papa, if you are going then you are probably on your way.  The only other thing I suggest is LOTS OF CLOTHES.  I was just outside drinking coffee and its cold and windy.

I think I will make a trip this morning to the Bass Pro Shop.  Probably be warmer inside the store than on the lake.

Fished Cross today with Jeff until about 2:30.  Caught 18, with 2 over the slot.  You will have to guess the bait of choice!  Grin
