Hello fellow yak fishermen. I am on the Hobie fishing team and have had several Hobie Outbacks and have ordered a 2015 model. I find it the most relaxing and exciting way to fish. Welcome all of you new yakkers to a great and growing sport.

I'm currently fishing from a Jackson Big Rig and it's a great setup.  That said my home lake is HUGE and DEEP and if I can't convince the wife to let me get a small bass boat this year I'm switching to a Hobie Pro Angler almost solely for the Mirage Drive.  Not only should it be much more convenient for fishing, but it seems that the hull is more efficient as well making covering some water to get away from the launch site a bit easier and quicker.

I like the yak for some peace and quiet and like the solitude, but my kids are getting bigger and it's time to really introduce them to fishing and the outdoors.  Not sure that a kayak is the right vessel for that or that my wife would let me take them out on one at this point anyway thus the desire for a boat.  Certainly not looking to replace, merely augment the yak.

Buying an Ascend FS12T come February. Plan on outfitting it with a crate (hopefully with some sort of cover) and a Power Pole Micro Anchor to start. I'm mostly a shallow water guy, so I figured the Micro Anchor would be a nice touch. After that, I may mess with some electronics. I also plan on mounting some of the different Garmin Virb cameras on mine and a buddy's yak.

I went with the anchor wizard which is only $149 and can be used in shallow or deep water and needs no batteries. You should check it out before spending so much on the other one.

Figured I'd see if anybody was still out there on this topic - just got off the water with my new Eagle Talon yesterday. $330 at Field and Stream after their 15% website coupon if anybody wants a decent kayak at a good price. I'm ready to get back on the water!

I Bass fishing out of a 12' Hobie Pro Angler. I also own a 2nd 12' Hobie Pro Angler along with a Wilderness Tarpon 100 and a Wilderness Commander 120 which are paddle. They all have there place, but I love my Pro Angler. I enjoy online Kayak Bass Tourneys and am currently leading this month in one with these 3 fish. These Tourneys you go by your longest 3 fish (some go by longest 5 fish).

Grew up with canoes, and still using one. I don't know how much info I can offer. Maybe a different perspective.
