2000 skeeter zx185c 150vmax speed?

does 53mhp gps seem slow for the 2000 ZX185 with a 150vmax? the boat was empty other then 2 people.

Does the boat have a jack plate? Condition of bottom of hull? Last time the motor was checked? Did you just buy this boat or have you owned it for awhile? Is the throttle cable getting "full sweep" as necessary?

I'm in the  process  of buying it so we took it out for a run and it only pulled 53. He has the paperwork from the local shop with a compression test. There is a jack plate and the condition of the hull seems fine to me other than a few chips here and there but nothing big. Is has a hot foot so maybe the cable is starting to  stretch out. What should the speed be for that set up 60mph?

There are multiple factors that could be the problem.  In order to give you an educated opinion we would need more information.

What Prop is on the motor. 

What is the prop to pad measurement

What RPMs were you running at wide open throttle

I would suspect that you may just have a set up problem that could easily be solved.
