Setting Up Lews BB1SHZ
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:23:21 PM »

Just looking over my newest Lews reel that was purchased late last year.  It has never been used so today I decided I would get it set up and ready to accept some line.  All of my other Lews reels are magnetic brakes while this BB1 is Centrifugal Brakes.  The manual is telling me that for the weight of lures that I anticipate using, I should turn on 4 of the brake pins.

I have done that but it just seems to me that it may be too much brake.  I guess I won't know until I load some line and cast it around a bit.

Does this brake set up sound right to you guys?

Put 2 pins on and set the mag brakes all the way up. Adjust the mag brakes down as you feel more comfortable.

Having used the mag brakes for a few years I understand them and usually run them at about the #2 setting.  I agree that on the centrifugal  4 on may be too much.  I think I will change it right now to the setting you recommend.
