Hello to all...I just bought a 88 pantera with a 150 rude on it.My Dad says I made a mistake cause in rough water at the Ozarks my boat is terrible. He has a Champ bought it new in 87 and still has it.Then he went further and said no way my boat will run 60mph.I just laughed, anyway what are your thoughts?

I had a 95 PII with a 150 Yamaha at LOZ. It is a GREAT rough water boat. I could reach 65 mph with just myself in the boat. BassCat designs their boats to handle rough water. One reason you see so many on the lake. I now own a BassCat Puma. 20'6'' of rough water boat.

I think that your father will have to eat a little crow for such bold statements....lol

You bought a fine boat that will perform for many more years.  The P-II will do just fine in rough water and out run your dad on the smooth stuff....

Good luck and enjoy your Bass Cat!

I have an 86 pantera with a 175 merc. Single console. By myself with full fuel tank, I get 68 mph, gps. 2 guys and extra tackle, 65 mph. However, I feel the boat is light when in rough water. It's still does good but not as well as other boats I have owned and rode in.  But I'm still happy with it.

Have you balanced the weight in the boat? That is a wood boat with fiberglass over the wood. The wood used in the boats was marine plywood but every sheet used weighed a little different from other sheets. Weight distribution of tackle and boat gear is critical. BassCat is designed for rough water and normally handles it well.
