Quantum speed freak.
« on: March 12, 2017, 11:35:59 PM »

Ok since I've not been super impressed with the new Shimano reels.I'm not saying they are terrible just that they haven't worked out for me personally. I have I have decided to try some other reels. I have been doing a bit of a sweep so to speak so far I have a couple Lews I've been using and so far they are nice reels for the money.Anyway I saw the speed freak and it looks like a good reel.Have any of you used it yet and if so what have you thought of the reel so far.It also looks like they removed the "acs hump" have they? I am also curious as to where they are made I know its not a major concern I'm just curious.

Glad Im not the only one thats not impressed with the new Shimano offerings. I have as well made a dive into a different offering. The speed freak from what I have read is supposed to be a much improved reel over the previous Quantum offerings. Hopefully its in line with the old Smoke reels of the past, because they were pretty solid.

T hanks for the reply.I remember the original smoke and while I didn't get one just like you said I had heard they were a solid performer. If I can get a new smoke for cheap enough I think I'm going to try one but I always like to ask first.
