2017 175txw 75hp 4 stroke prop size
« on: April 24, 2017, 01:06:31 PM »

I have a 2017 175txw 75hp, looking for the best prop for this boat for performance and hole shots, been looking at the SpitFireŽ X7 just not sure what size. Still breaking in the motor.
Thanks
Bill

Bill, whats wrong with the prop that came with the motor?  I would make sure the set up is correct before getting into the swap a prop program.  Information we would need to help you would be:

RPM at WOT

GPS Speed

Water Pressure Reading

Prop to Pad measurement

What Motor Manufacturer  (many have prop selection help on website)

75 hp Mercury 4 stroke

Bill,

Go to Mercury's Website and they have a great tool there called Prop Finder (I believe that is the name).
On it you can put your style of boat, motor style and size, and what you are most looking for.

Speed, Hole Shot, Handling etc.

If you know the actually weight of your boat with all your gear and you that is even better.

They will do a computer workup and show you the best props for your boat.

I've used it and it is usually pretty darn close to what any one else says.

WOT RPM looking at 5400-5600 MPH approximately 42 43, it has a 31.25 x 17P aluminum prop now.

Bill,  I would say that your are doing ok with your current set up.  You may do better with a SS Prop with perhaps a little more bite but not sure the expense would be worth a couple more miles per hour.  I am still curious about your prop to pad that may tell us a lot.  I guess you have to decide what is important to you with regards to speed or time to plane numbers.

It's not the prop. The motor is mounted too low. My TX-17 flies since I raised my motor 4" and I kick butt over a tracker 17 pro with a 60hp and I only have a 40ph.
