I have been looking for a good quality reel case to use when traveling. I don't do much, but I could always use one, and especially for Guntersville. I have looked on eBay, and on Monster. Looks like I may have to bite the bullet and get a Shimano one. A. Because it's Shimano. And B. Because it looks like way better quality than anything else out there. If it's built anything like my large duffle/tackle bag by Shimano, then it should last a lifetime.

Anybody use one? Which one do you use? I'm looking to possibly travel with 6 to 8 reels. From what I've read into, the small Shimano bag is too small. I can't get good enough pictures of the inside of the Shimano bags. Monster only shows images of the outside, and no help in the description department.

Look at the Haliburton or Pelican cases. They have sectioned foam that will allow you to sculpt places for each reel.

Plano actually makes reel cases that might interest you.  Can be self customized by changing and cutting foam to meet your needs.  Cabelas has them shown in their on line stuff.

I looked at the recommended cases. They are pretty neat, but I think a soft bag will be easier, especially on a plane. Cabelas does have a nice soft bag similar to the Shimano bag. It's $50 for their bigger version too. Their small one is the size of the Shimano medium one, and looks almost identical. That one looks pretty good. Let's see, maybe there will be some nice memorial day sales.

I bought a reel bag . Compartments are adjustable and has zipper compartments too for stuff like terminal tackle if you want. The brand is Allen. Technically it's for fly reels, but because it is adjustable you can fit your baitcasters and spinning reels in there too.
It's decent, and was 30 bucks.

I'd get two of the Cabela's bags myself. I'm going to run down today and look at them. Having the Shimano would be sweet, but that's 80 bucks lol

The Cabela's bag looks like it would work and them you could put the $50 saved on another reel.  ;D

Lip, yep $50 is some good coin, especially since Id blow that at Gville.

Rock, let me know what you think, as we have similar expectations.

Yep. It will be this afternoon. Inventory shows several in stock on both models too.

Get the Cabela's cases now before Bass Pro figures out a way to make them cheaper and crappy.

Is this for carry on or are you checking it?

Just my opinion but there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks I would put your price point of reels in a semi soft case and check it in on an airline.
I've got good friends who are baggage handlers for a major airline. Love those guys to death but they are not easy on baggage. :shocking:
I would spring for the Pelicans if I were checking them in to baggage.

Absolutely a carry on. I will be bringing 8 to 10 reels im sure, just because. That case will be handcuffed to me.
