KVD Line Conditioner
« on: May 21, 2017, 11:39:05 AM »

First year using this stuff and so far I'm pretty impressed with it. How often should I apply it? How much should I apply because I feel like I'm wasting a lot of it.

I soak the main spool when I buy it. Soak the night before I re-spool, then soak the spool on the reel as I am spooling it. Anytime I am going fishing, I will soak each spool the night before. After fishing, I stretch my flouro and mono and soak the spool.

I love the stuff. Without it, I have a hate relationship with non braided lines. I'd recommend getting the gallon jug or the 20oz spray bottle. You will go though that small bottle quick fast.

I use it when I re-spool and probably once or twice on the same spool during the summer. I keep thinking that somewhere in my (non-existent) spare time that I'll rig up some sort of bath or applicator system that the line can pass through before going on the spool. I usually spray the line at three different intervals on the supply spool. Once on the real I just spray on the spool and wipe off the real.

I know exactly what you mean. I bought the 20 oz. and used 1/2 already just treating my bulk spools and reels. There's soo much run off that gets wasted I wanted to see if you guys did anything different.

I've found that if you spray the spool with it flat, it tends to hang around and soak in longer.

I'm going to think about getting the gallon jug and putting the spool in a tub of it.

I usually spray the night before going fishing. Sometimes I forget and soak the spool an hour prior.

I bought a bottle to try just because that what we do.  lo You see a pro or some other knuckleheads doing it so it must be great right? I won't be buying any more as I have tried it and have ended up doing just like rickdelprado. Some days I forget it and don't even remember till I see the bottle.

But honestly I haven't seen enough of a definitive difference to make me spend the $ and go through the hassle of applying it. To each his own but I'm passing on this one.

Here is the instructions http://www.lineandlure.com/info/instructions/ it might help with your questions.
Quote
How often should I apply it?
One coat allowed to dry for the first application of Line & LureŽ before use. Then reapply as needed.
Quote
How much should I apply because I feel like I'm wasting a lot of it.
Spray Line & Lure liberally to a small piece of synthetic cloth (e.g. old dress sock--don't use paper towels, cotton or wool). Fold the cloth over the line as you guide the line on the spool. Reposition cloth or refold every 10 -15 yards to assure that the cloth is distributing the liquid evenly and removing any contamination from the line. Using a cloth should help control excess waste.

I stopped using it myself. I will tell you what it's really good for though. When you ready to put the rods and reels away, spray some on a rag and give the reel and rod a good wipe down.

You still using senshi? cause man I gotta soak that stuff in KVD. I really like the line but man can it coil up and turn into a big ol mess upon casting.

lol but the line coiling has nothing to do with knowing how to cast.  :-*

If you know how to control your spool it does. After a few casts the line gets wet and goes limp.

I don't claim to be a genius by any standard but would something like this work...https://www.walmart.com/ip/White-Lightning-Bicycle-Chain-Cleaner-Kit/19417559#about-item? Maybe attach it to your spooler and fill it full of the KVD L&L and run the line right through it.

Spraying it on a towel and spooling your line holding the line between the towel works.

I'd be worried about my Flouro getting a kink from those wheels?

Xs2! Use a white rag and look at it after you're done spooling, yuck!! It does help with flouro and mono on spinning reels.
