Female angler currently in Bossier City, LA

Hello all,

New to the forum and really enjoying it.

Originally from southern California but moved out to LA for military move .The weather is crappy but the fishing is amazing! Haven't gone to Toledo yet but I have 3 years to get out there. I spent 4 years in thr Navy and am currently in law enforcement.

I mainly fish for bass but I also enjoy fishing big blue gills and crappie . I live on the air force base and there are several bodies of water I've explored and am continuing to learn. My boat is a Perception pescador 120 and I absolutely love it. I'm trying to get into casting reels but as of nowall of my fishing is done with spinning setups .

I'm sure I'll ask a ton of questions in the future. Couldn't attach any pics because they are too big apparently !

Welcome aboard. Well you definitely in the right area for fishing. Lots of good lakes in that area and all within very reasonable drive times.  In fact most people in that area are spoiled, if they have to drive more than 15 minutes to get to the ramp they start crying.lol That is a good problem to have though.

Yes! Its nice to be at the water in 10 min. I used to drive 2 hours to get to Lake Casitas in CA.

Welcome.  Glad to see another female angler posting.  Not many do, far as I can tell.  My daughter loves to fish, but wouldn't even think about reading a fishing forum.  My wife use to go with me (to watch and spend time together), but not any more.

Bought my daughter her first casting outfit for Christmas a few years ago.  Custom built 6' MHF...in pink, naturally...because she wanted a short rod even though I tried to talk her into something longer.  Picked up a used Chronarch 101A for it.  She hasn't used a spinning rod since....and they are also in her favorite color...pink.   

I fished strictly spinning until getting back into fishing in 2009 after a 23 year hiatus.  Has been almost 100% baitcast since then.  You should try one.  I think you would enjoy it.

I wish I would've been stationed in San Diego!

I was stationed in Norfolk, VA. It wasn't too bad. Didn't fish as often then so I probably missed out on some really good waters.

I do miss the food in California. There was so much variety and the entertainment was also great.
