Last trip in the Sabre
« on: June 05, 2017, 03:45:30 PM »

Well guys....I fished my last trip in the Sabre Thursday in a evening tournament.......was a little excited and sad at the same time.  This boat has been with me for the last ten years and saw the best and worst of my times.......she never left my side through any of it and was actually my best friend through some of it....lol  When I bought her, she was absolutely the most boat that I could afford at the time and talk about walking on cloud nine!!!!.....she was way more boat than I paid for.  I can honestly say that I have made more out of this boat than I put into her....she has been bullet proof and has never left me stranded.  And right on par with her history, I cashed a small check in the last day on the water with her.  The excitement comes from the fact that I am getting a brand new Bass Cat Eyra, which to me is the big brother to the Sabre and the way it handles and drives....just on a much faster and more powerful scale...lol  I am looking forward to many years in the Eyra and many more great memories!!!!!!!  My current life is the best it has ever been and the future is bright!!!!!!

Can't wait to post pics when I get her in the driveway

Bittersweet and exciting at the same time! Thanks for relaying the story, and can't wait to see pics of the new one.

I've had 18 bass boats over the decades that were mine. About 20 more that were sponsored. I remember every one of them. My bass boats were somewhat like women. Some were faithful; some were sleek and cheeky and some seemed to hate me. All left an impression on me. Have fun with your new boat. My 1979 Star Tri-hull is still plying the waters of Lake Taneycomo fishing for trout.
