Quicksilver Synthetic or Blend, Oil for 2-stroke
« on: June 23, 2017, 07:15:24 PM »

90 hp 2-stroke Merc.  Had some carbon build up in prop housing with regular oil so swtiched to synthetic blend QS.  Would I be better to run full synthetic like the QS PWC oil?  Or just stay with blend.

And can I mix Quicksilver oils, synthetic vs blend?
thanks, Del

I'm not a Merc guy. Full synthetic is a better oil. It offers the best protection and burns much cleaner. I used a synthetic blend before I repowered, but only use full synthetic now. I think if you're going from a blend to full synthetic, it's ok to add the synthetic with the remaining oil in the tank. I'd just run it as low as I felt comfortable with before adding the full synthetic.

It's getting harder and harder to find QS blended anymore. Make the move to synthetic. If you're worried about carbon make sure to use the Merc additives. I use the Number 1 at every fill up.

The super tech Wal-Mart tw3 is just like the quick silver. And less expensive. I don't get any build up.
