Even if, in a gun that's made with a polymer frame, contact points with metal have metal molded into the polymer. Moving parts in a gun aren't plastic.

Yeah, you are right.

I really don't think it will be an issue but time will tell. If it were a spool item then I'd be concerned but not a worm gear. And the removal of the clip? The cheap metal they make the clip out of wears and springs faster than any piece on the reel (when that reel is properly adjusted and used) so that's a non issue for me as well. I clean most reels 4 times a year, so I'll know before long if it's an issue.

LMG have you tried to do a scratch test or abrasion test on the material? There is room on a worm gear to do some testing and not hurt the gear.

No. You scratch it and its probably no good. I didnt want to risk it on my Scorpion because I was gonna sell it. I felt like it was gonna break trying to get the bearing in place of the bushing. Just bending and stuff.

Interesting. A metal worm gear is only a couple bucks. I'm not sure of the cost on these but once they get parts available for the little guys, I'll be sure to see how easy or hard they are to tear up.

I plan on keeping this reel for some time if it's as smooth a caster as the videos claim it is. I will buy several extra pawls and worm gears to keep a few on hand. This reel has everything that I want should I have built one myself. I've got plans to get a couple more after my preorder comes out provided it lives up to the hype.

Some people have gotten their hands on the new K before its scheduled release, and the reviews are positive. The black finish really makes this reel look really nice.

All the new shimanos have been good. No reason to doubt these. Shimano and Daiwa always make me smile

There is information on the Shimano website comparing the Curado K and Curado I reels.
The Curado K appears to be much better.

http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/products/info/news/shimano-curado-k-compared-to-curado-i.html

The new 200k addresses my complaints with the 200i. This 200k has the newest version of SVS. One of my complaints on the 200i was the older gen SVS. It shared the same gen SVS with the Chronarch Ci4 and the Met 13. I owned a Met 13 for about two days. Wasn't impressed. Especially when the 2016 Met with the current gen SVS launched. Spoiled me to death.

I'm a big fan of micro brass gearing. If you haven't ever fished a moving bait with one, you're doing yourself a disservice. The 200i had more teeth than say the E series did, but wasn't true Micro like the 2016 Met and now this Curado 200k. The 200i wasn't a POS, by any means, but left me wanting more.

I have a feeling that this 200k will palm closer to a 50/70 sized reel than a true 200.

Longer handles and the color are on point. I do think Shimano shot themselves in the foot by doing away with the PG. I have a feeling they are trying to push folks to the more expensive round reels. If you notice, almost every line of the low profile reels have seen them disappear. Not everyone wants the weight of a round reel.

Now you've got me tempted. :) The only thing I really wish they had was the MGL spool. That thing is unbeatable IMO.

I concur. Thet MGL spool makes the Met 2016 a different animal. I really wish Shimano would have made the CH MGL like this 200k. I want to love it, but the look is just awful with the SVS dial

So? Is the Curado K running over the Daiwa's Fuego CT?

Its closing the gap, but in my opinion the quality of the parts is sub par with the amount of plastic Shimano has started to use.

I value your opinion.
I guess time will tell. Once both hit the market we'll see the reviews.

Anymore, I take what info (technical) Tackle Tour puts out and pay zero attention to their opinions and babble. They proved on the Chronarch MGL review that they rushed it to print and who's paying the bills.

I treat Tackle Tour like watching a fishing show. Mute the volume and watch the facts
