Rod Help!!!
« on: July 05, 2017, 06:20:40 PM »

With a Avail Microcast Honeycomb spool on the way for my Scorpion xt 1001 I am in search of a rod to pair it with. Will be tossing light treble hooks lures and the majority will be topwater. Sensitive is not a priority but balance is. Want to stay under 7 ft and will be using 10lb mono. A LSCR is in the back of my mind 😂 or a nice medium power fast action rod around $100 is there also. I am also willing to jump out the window and try any handle material other than my preference of full cork.
HELP lol.

I think the Dobyns Fury rods are around there.  Others can suggest some rods.  For that price point, I really like the Duckett Micro Magic, but might want to try the Ghost, although I never have tried them.

Check out the St. Croix Bass MoJo rod at 6'8". A great all around rod.

I have been eyeballing the 13 fishing rods. The defy, fate black, omen 2... Just haven't felt the reel seat yet.

My first suggestion is going to be above your budget but very much worth your looking at.
It is an Irod IRG 693CC. This is a 6'9" composite graphite/glass rod. I fish its bigger brother an IRG703CC. I use it for square bills, small to mid size cranks, traps and some topwater baits.  I am sure you could get some quick advice with one call out to Irod. i did before I decided on my rod.  These rods run $150 but if you order before TW ends its 4th of July sale you could get it for around $126, so that would not be much out of your budget.

Now to get back in your budget
Look at a Powell Inferno 6104 CB GLASS/COMPOSITE for $99
Also look at an Abu Garcia Ike Delay series 7 foot medium for $129 but I believe it may also be on sale at tackle Warehouse. I fish his 6'4" jerkbait rod and love it.

The omen would be my first choice. I have some time with the Mojo sc III jerkbait rod and liked it for poppers and smaller walking baits.
I believe the omen is available in a 6ft7 and 6ft 10 medium power, either would be great.
I fish the Muse Black in the 6ft 10 model and it's outstanding for topwater, stickbaits and 1.5's..

Lots of options already given  ~c~

My recommendation would be the Dobyns Fury 705 CB
http://dobynsrods.com/rod/fr-705cb/

Excellent balance, quality components, just an all around great rod for 109. If you have an Academy Sports, many are carrying the Fury line now.

Since you are already thinking about an LSCR I'd talk to him about what you want!!
