Best year for big largies
« on: July 15, 2017, 05:04:34 AM »

I usually catch 1 bass over 4lbs a year but already have 4 not including Erie smallies.
Wife got this beauty today.

Gotta tell the story from Saturdays 5 lber.
So my cheap wife saw a bobber in the tree by the boat dock. Of course to keep her happy I take her over to get it.
While she is untangling it I look at the downscan and there it is a big beautiful brushpile with fish on it.
I backed out and fished down the shoreline then doubled back to fish the dock and brushpile. Skipped a jig along the outside of the dock and as I worked it back she hit right at the end of the dock and beginning of the brush. Lucky for me she swam away from the dock as there is a chain on the outside and a metal post on the inside.

So the moral of the story is to always take care of your wifes bobbers.

I have to say that these fish were caught by UB. The tips and advice I have learned from here has made me a way better fisherman.  ~beer~The tackle I use is much better and the advice I got for choosing it all came from here. ~bb

All 4 fish came on a D+D+D combination David, Dobyns, Daiwa and there are no plans to break up the group.
I only had a cheap Daiwa reel before you guys made me spend more money. lo

Thanks to all

She is blind in one eye, holes in her back from a bigger fish, and her tail is all ripped up.

I went to prefish a lake I had never been on. I did my map studies and marked different areas.  The first spot I caught a good keeper and had a follow on the next cast. Went to 2nd spot and caught a barely legal keeper and no other bites. Went to third spot and tossed a senko into a lay down on a point. It stopped immediately. I set the hooked and the Dobyns bowed hard, she ran at the boat but I was already on the trolling motor. The net lady was johnny on the spot. And my 2nd 20 incher of the month was landed. Here are pics of my best 2 today.
