Good day
« on: July 16, 2017, 07:31:07 PM »

It was a good day, out of the sling for a week I went to the shed, picked up a rod, 6'6" BPS Extreme with a PRO QUALIFIER 7 to 1 new I bought on sale, tore it down, tuned it, spooled it and put it up til I could use it. I haven't touched a rod & reel since late April because of my shoulder.  I spooled it with Power Pro 15#, I went over to a table and tied on a 1/2 ounce jig with a PACA CLAW, and practiced some pitching and roll casts. I had this rig with an old Quantum Energy KVD on it, it always felt good and is my primary dock rod for jigs, I put the PQ on it this last winter.
The only thing that would have been better would have been to have a 5 lber on the end of the line, while I'm out of practice it wasn't too bad, 1 blowup and 1 minor blowup, the accuracy was a C+, I'm a bit out of practice, it just felt good to handle an outfit again!!! :) ;D I couldn't do it for long before the shoulder start to get sore, about 10 minutes, but I'm getting closer!

Great to see you casting already! Stay up with the PT and do what they tell you to do at home... those are the hardest because no one is watching  ~shade

Good for you Rodney!  Glad to hear that you are getting along.  Like Mike said, do the therapy and do the home exercises.  Get better and get fishing.

No therapist doubts my work ethic, the only way you can get better is to work, the hard part is not overdoing it but the pain tells me when to stop.

You know the old saying Rodney, "slow and steady wins the race." You'll be good as new in no time.

That has to be good for morale.  I hope you keep on the path to recovery, and that you're better than new when you get there!
