Shimano Core50Mg7 BFS conversion.
« on: July 25, 2017, 08:56:26 PM »

Got this Core off another site. Few minor marks, but overall in great shape.

Since the Avail50RR spools are still on sale at Japan Tackle, I picked up another one for the Core. What Im gonna do is mount this reel on the Defy rod and use it for my UL reel. It is basically the same reel as the Aldebaran that I got the gold Avail50RR spool for, only the color difference. For the Core, I got the red spool.

First thing I did was tear into the reel and see what kinda condition the inside was. To my surprise, it doesnt seem that this reel was ever opened up. Inside was pretty clean though. Dont look like this reel had been used a whole lot.

I said I wasnt gonna do any mods to the reel, but I have a few extra things laying around, so why not. Got a set of Carbontex drags, and a red anodized handle nut.

I have all the parts degreased for now, and will put it back together in the next few days. The honeycomb spool should be here within the week. Then I will spool it with 10lb Senshi.

As far as the Aldebaran, well that reel is gonna get spooled back with 20lb Senshi and put back on the Crucial rod for lighter T rig duty.
