A classic never dies!
« on: July 27, 2017, 06:06:14 PM »

My sourced from Thailand, Core arrived today. Found this NIB with everything from the factory. This is by far my favorite platform of reel. Nothing else compares to these 100 D's. I've owned about every high end major manufacturers reels and have always come back to these reels.

Another Holy Grail reel has been checked off the list. Shimano Core 100MG7.

Reel comes with brass gears, so all I did to this was added a 96mm black Chronarch MGL handle, Metanium 13 nut cover, Metanium 13 knob caps and CarbonTex drag upgrade.

Flushed the bearings and re-lubed them, Cals on the Pinion and Main gear, Cals on the worm shaft and lightly oiled the brake race, tabs and friction points with Hedgehog Alchemy Medium light oil.

Spooled with 65# Power Pro Maxcuatro braid and she now sits atop my MHXF LSCR and will pull main jig duty. At 7.0:1/30 IPT, this is just perfect for pitching and dragging jigs. I've never needed more than 30 IPT for my jig work.

The all black look just does it for me!

I did have to shim the handle with one shim to clear the stock drag star.

Core baby!!!

I am not one for all the eww and ahh over a reel. Seriously I could care less in most cases about appearance modifications.

However this reel looks outstanding. Very tastefully done. I mean you can only see so many reels that have the Autozone dress up chrome style effects done to them before you need to vomit a little.

That is a sweet looking reel you have there. Congrats.

All reels should look like that. Sharp but not blingy.
