Wile I didn't do as well on Caddo as some of you guys have been reporting, I did at least have SOME action.  I caught 4 on a buzz bait in Alligator Bayou yesterday morning.  2 were in the slot & 2 just under.  Then my brother in-law tried to find some keeper size bream, which we did manage a few keepers as well as a whole bunch of throwbacks.  Well, that is they would be throwbacks for me but he kept them for baiting his catfish lines where he fishes down in Texas on Choke Canyon.  Took them home with him, & I told him to be sure to save me some filets when he gets those cats.

Marty,

Good to hear you are catching a few on Caddo also. This may seem like a strange question but where did you find the bream bed, or were you just fishing the banks in alligator bayou?

Hey Mike,  We just fished along the edges of the channel up the river near Govt. Ditch, and also all the way down the ditch.  Luckily it was a Monday & we only had one boat go past us the whole time we were in the ditch!  I get some of the channels mixed up sometimes, but I think we were still in Alligator Bayou, or is it called Kitchen's Creek over that way near Govt. Ditch.  Anyhow, we were just goofing off after the bass quit on us & we decided to jerk a few "perch".  I had hoped we might find some really nice sized ones around some trees on Tar Island, but we didn't have any luck with the "hawg" sized ones.  I almost started to try to contact Papa and ask him where he was catching them at.  I figure since I met him once on Bistineau that maybe he would consider helping me out!  I was hoping to impress my in-law with some Caddo whoppers, but I guess it will have to wait till next time.   Man, Shocked are there some pads on Caddo this year or what?Huh

YEAH, the pads definately have the frog fisherman in heaven.....

You should have talked to Papa he is a real good guy and would have put you on a bed or two. Don't hesitate to instant message anyone on the board or even just straight up ask questions that is what this forum is all about. It is here to prefish and have a good time with, and some where along the line I think we all end up learning a thing or two

Thanks Mike,

I appreciate this board, it's a great forum for us local anglers.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet up with more of you guys.  So far I've only seen you & Papa, but it's a small world and as much time as we all spend on the water I expect we'll run into each other some time.  Oh yeah, I did call J.R. awhile back and he helped me with some river info.  I am curious as to how many of ya'll might be fishing the benfit tournament this weekend out of Clarks?  I plan to, hope the river's not too muddy.  I was out there on Saturday and didn't have much luck, just one keeper.  The river normally kicks my butt in the summer.  Once in awhile I luck up on a few jetty fish, but nothing consistent at all.  Oh yeah, with regards to the question of which boats dominate the water, I must add my thoughts......of course TRITON/YAMAHA rules!  Cool Take 'er easy!

Went to Caddo Monday night and Tuesday with Vicker's.

Monday night caught a  slot bass and an under on spinnerbaits and missed a few as well. Fished till about 1am until the lighting ran us off.

Tuesday decided to try some different areas than we have been fishing. Not much success. I can't kind an early morning bite this year to save my life, my ace in the hole spot won't  produce when the water gets this low. Did manage a five and a three and half pounder, but that was it for the whole day.

Going to try again Thursday or Friday, and of course on the weekend. Never thought I would get tired of Caddo.

Casso,

The fish you are catching are they relating to the pads or the trees? if you don't mind giving up a little info for us that aren't going to get much time out there

Nice fish...

All these questions about pads and trees....what about grass and docks.  What about all the other structure that Papa talks about?

And I can understand getting tired of Caddo....I haven't been there in several months and I'm tired of it....hahahahaha

The Bream beds I have found are on points back in the sloughs around Brumleys. seems they are looking for a shady point or bank line that has a little sand. The one I was fishing is in a slough out by the boat row just before it turns around the big point by brumleys.

Well I went out this morning at about 6:00 just before leaving for work and caught a 7 lber on the first cast and had my line broke on the second (only use 10 lb. line with a barbless hook in the pond) and she got me around a log. so I guess that is a pretty good present.

Went to Caddo this morning before work. Fished From 4 am till 8 am.  I have a night tournament there on Saturday night with the Blanchard group, so I can't say much, except wow!  The fish were biting every where I went.
