Fishing Rod
« on: August 05, 2017, 05:59:41 PM »

Greetings Everyone!! I have have a question of which is the best (UltraLight Rod/Reel Combo) for the price.. I'm talking (Ultra Light).. I have a (4' 5") Rod and Real that are pretty out dated and looking for something better. I'm mainly only fishing for Trout in little rivers & Brooks. Thanks everyone for the help and advice!..

Best Regards -Markus

"Best for the price" is pretty open. I have a 5'6" lightning rod with a zebco micro 33 on it, and I love it! I think the rod is around $20-$30 and the reel cost me around $10.
But I just recently got a Mitchell 310 on an Abu Garcia Vigilante 2.0 from my boss that I love even more. That's a $35-$45 reel and a $30-$40 pole.
Even though I love the Mitchell much more, I can't say for sure if it'd been worth it to me if I were paying retail price. My boss sold it to me for $20.

Most of these guys know far more about this stuff than I do, but they'd probably be able to help a little more if you could give a more specific price range.

My main UL setup consists of a 6' 6" BPS Micro-Lite rod, a Pflueger President reel and 6 lb. test Berkley Fireline. I catch everything from panfish to bass with this setup and it has held up very well for many years.

I am looking at adding a 7' and a 7' 6" rod and maybe even a telescoping jigging pole if I can find one with that buggy-whip action.

One of my first combos was this really whippy daiwa combo called d-shock. It was one of the only combos sports authority had but it was awesome to cast with. The medium was super flexible and the two models ran between $20-30.
