Ocean Rod?!

Greetings!!! Tomorrow I'm headed down to Cape Cod for a vacation. Being that I don't live near an ocean I only have Freshwater Rods. I have a Quantum Equalizer™ Rod with a Optix 20 Reel. It is Freshwater Combo. And I do not own a Saltwater setup. Will I be fine to use my setup in the ocean or will it get ruined. Thanks for your guys's help!

You might have to take it all apart and give it a good cleaning after your done. It should be OK if it can handle any big fish you might hook into.

I personally think you are going to find that setup a little under powered for saltwater fishing. Might be okay if you are fishing from the shore but if you are going out on a boat I wouldn't trust it.

If you do use it make sure you follow Lip's advice and give the whole combo a good rinse down and cleaning afterward. Also spray the reel down with some WD-40 before you use it for saltwater and again after you clean it up when you are done.
