Clarifies regulations for the Elliott Bay salmon fishery

Action: Clarifies rules within 2017-18 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for Elliott Bay salmon fisheries within Marine Area 10 (Seattle/Bremerton) through Oct. 31.

Effective Date: Immediately through Oct. 31, 2017.

Species affected:  Salmon.

Locations and dates:

Elliott Bay (waters east of a line form West Point to Alki Point, excluding Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway) is open to salmon fishing Aug. 18-20 and Aug. 25-27 with a 2 salmon daily limit; release chinook, chum, and wild coho. Elliott Bay re-opens to salmon fishing Sept. 1, under Marine Area 10 rules.

Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway (waters from the mouth to a line from Jack Block Park through the northernmost tip of Harbor Island extending to shore northeast of the North Waterway) is closed to salmon fishing through Aug. 31. Opens Sept. 1 to salmon fishing under Marine Area 10 rules.

Other information: Spokane Street Bridge is contained within the Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway section.  For a map of Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway, check page 116 of the 2017-18 Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet.

Anglers can still fish for other species (under regulations outlined in special rules) in the Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway while those waters are closed to salmon fishing.

Beginning Nov. 1, Elliott Bay and Harbor Island/Duwamish Waterway remain open to salmon fishing under the Marine Area 10 rules listed in the pamphlet.

Information Contact: Mill Creek WDFW, (425) 775-1311; Ryan Lothrop, (360) 902-2808.
