Catfish creek preserve 8/17/2017
« on: August 18, 2017, 08:33:57 AM »

I had a small window of opportunity to go out and wet a line last night.  I went to catfish creek preserve.  I arrived at about 6:00 and walked to one of the many ponds there.  Of course because it was my only opportunity to fish it decided to storm pretty hard.  It was pouring.  Being my only chance to get in the water though I stuck it out.  I had to put down the rod a handful of times due to lightning but it was tolerable for the most part.  I had a gambler big ez in copperfield tied on.  I was throwing it out to pads and pencil grass.  After about an hour and a half I saw some activity on the surface.  I threw my swimbait out to it and caught a 10 inch largemouth.  It was my only fish of the night.  At about 8:00 I packed up my stuff and hiked back out.  It was a very wet outing, but the one very small bass I caught made it all totally worth it.  I may have to stick to only going out in the morning for a while though.

Fortunately you didn't get skunked, sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate. But, if you enjoyed getting out, the trip was worth it.
