The Dobyns has arrived
« on: August 21, 2017, 12:22:45 PM »

UPS just dropped off the Dobyns Fury 735C that I bought from Monster Fishing Tackle.  The Shipping package was fully intact and the rod inside is undamaged and good to go..  Total shipping time from the West Coast to Myrtle Beach was 1 week.  Good performance by all parties.

The rod is not a high end product but is very nice and will meet my needs just fine.  I was surprised that it fits into my rod rack without any problems.  This certainly is not the quality of my Lee Smith rods but then again there is a difference in the comparative price.  I am going to install a Daiwa TWSV103XS on this rascal and give it a whirl in the front yard casting range.  I am anxious to find out how it feels and how it casts.  All in all it seems to be a good purchase and represents my first Dobyns product.

Congrats on the new rod.  ~c~ Its always a blast playing with a new toy.

I am waiting on my new Rep Sample SSM735C rod. I got a tracking number but so far all UPS site says is Label Created On: 08/18/2017  :( My UPS deliveries are usually between 3 and 4:30pm Central time so it may just appear one day. :)

Congrats on the new Dobyns Rod Bud.  I am sure once you get it in actual use you will be happy with it.  I own four Fury Series Rods, a 765flip, 734C, 705CB and a 703SF.  Love em all.  That 735C might be my next one.

Got the rod all married up to the Daiwa and took it to the front yard and gave it a try out.  I was using a senko bait with about a 1/8 oz weighted hook.  Obviously this is a bit light for this rod but all I can say is that everything worked out just fine.  The reel was able to do its thing and the rod felt good in the hand and well balanced to the reel.  Also noticed an almost total lack of sound as the braid went through the guides.  I am still amazed about the accuracy and the length of the casts the reel produces and now seems to be even better with the Dobyns rod.  This is the longest rod I have in my stable and the rod length seems to have added yet another element to distance.  This is not a substitute for an on water test but for the front yard casting range it did very well.  I do believe both new products are winners.

Just wait till you put a frog on there! You're going to need a bigger yard.
