I'm admittedly not well versed at lure knots, and I stick to the one I know - the Palomar. Are there others that are better but not overly complicated?

the only knots i use are the palomar, improved clinch, and the rapala knot. I use the FG knot for leader to braid. these will cover most bases.

Lipripper

I use the Palomar most of the time also because like you it's easy t tie and works great on braid.

Another vote for Palomar... I tie it on everything.

Learn the improved clinch knot and/or the uniknot.  The uni can be used in many different situations.  No mater what knot you use with fluro lubricate it well before tightening or it might break, or slip because it is very heat sensitive and excess friction will damage the line, been there, done that.

SteelHorseCowboy

I use braid, so palomer.
When I was using mono, I used a loop knot on cranks.

Anyone have tips on a good loop knot for braid?

The only lure I have a hard time using a Palomar with is a jig because there are so many loose skirt pieces that can get out of place. My husband uses a knot that wraps around the line four or five times, (I'm not sure what it's called), but it seems to take five times longer than just using a Palomar.

I use the Palomar knot most of the time. I use braid on all my reels.
For Braid-to-leader (Saltwater fishing), I use the uni-to-uni knot. I also use the improved clinch.
That's it! Three knots will cover most bases.

Lipripper

I can't remember all these knots so I pull them up to see how to tie my line to my reel or to join two lines together when adding more line to the reel.

Probably the improved clinch knot.

I use braid just about all of the time and I use a palomar knot. On the rare occasion I use mono that also gets a palomar or occasionally a Trilene knot. On the even rarer occasion I use flouro I use either the San Diago Jam or a simple uni knot.

No matter which line or knot you use always remember to wet the knot before cinching.  :-*

Don't feel bad lip, I'm 36 and have to do the same thing. I have step by step pictures of how to tie braid to backer line on my phone b/c I can never remember the steps.... lol

Palomar and improved clinch knot.

For frogs in heavy cover or heavy top waters at night I use a double San Diego.

Tactical bassin has a great video for braid knots, including the double San Diego.
