First stripers
« on: October 05, 2017, 08:01:06 AM »

Caught my first stripers and a few other oddballs. I did catch a few bigger stripers but the bite was on so no pics of them.

Here is a pic of a few years ago.  Santee has a nice population of stripers.  This is a nice fish but not in the big striper category for Santee

Is that third one a lizard fish? And the last some type of Sargeant Major?

That striped one in the last pic looks like a small Sheepshead.

Zippy, congrats on your first Striper!  ~c~

There were some places in MD that I could catch those little Stripers all day long. Fun on an ultra light spin rod or a light weight fly rod. Usually would be some big White Perch mixed in with them too.

Nothing wrong with a nice mixed bag either. Those puffers, if you catch some with some decent size to them have a sweet chunk of meat right down either side of the back bone.  :)
