Pascagoula River
« on: October 17, 2017, 07:33:23 PM »

Launched the Xpress at 8:30 and picked John up at his dock for a day on the water. Cold front blew through Sunday night and had our coolest morning of the fall at 50 degrees with high temps in the upper 70's, tide was high and did not fall all day even with north winds, water temps 75-76 degrees in most areas and about 2' visibility with clear skies all day. We both managed decent limits with all of mine on a white 3/8 oz. Mr. Hooty spinner bait and most of Johns fish on a Zoom speed worm. 20+ fish between us on the day which was not bad considering the conditions but slow for this time of year. Almost all fish came from skinny water in the dying grass but close to deeper edges. All in all another good day to be out on the water even though I missed way more than I caught and my buddy did not hesitate to remind me all afternoon.

Thanks for the report. I sure hope our river starts up soon over here. Seems like she's been dead for a while. Maybe I need one of these spinnerbaits you speak off :-*

Mr. Hooty has been around since the early 70's and made by Old River Lures in Brandon Ms. per their web site and was owned by a couple in Farmerville La. at one time. A twisted wire bait, its compact for its size and has done well for me recently although I do doctor it up a little. My wife is missing some of her nail polish with glitter in it, hope she doesn't catch me.
