Benefit of a dual console
« on: October 20, 2017, 09:53:40 AM »

As the weather chills in the Ozarks, the value of having a dual console boat becomes very apparent. If you fish with a partner, he can become cold very quickly in a single console boat. My Puma gives me a great choice because the passenger console is removable. Most times I leave it as a dual console but if I would fish a tournament as a single, I would remove it. That gives me more room to walk and land bass. Dual console boats also tend to keep greater value when you sell them.

Next ride will have a removable passenger console. Until then, I have a save phace mask in the lockers. I like the looks of a dual console and having been a co-angler with a dual console owner, I can appreciate it. I will also say that was the most cramped 20' bass boat I ever fished in. From the standpoint of actually fishing, I would have preferred fishing out of a single console.

Mine came as a standard single but honey bun who fishes with me once a year or so said to get the 2nd. Had it ordered and installed. At 1sr I missed the ability to run around without having to go between them but as most things in life you get used to what you got  lo. Besides itís hard to argue with the lady who says go get what you want then fuss when she asks for one little thing

I learned that lesson while down in FL fishing during bug season (all year long)  Stopped at a local Walmart and bought a cheap paintball mask ($19.99) and it worked great keeping all the bugs out of my teeth!

other than protecting your partner, I can't see any other reason. I had duals on four bassboats in the past while my son was growing. my first tin had a single console. much more room to put a cooler or your partners equipment and just to move around. removable consoles are the best of both worlds but can't get them on tins.

Isn't there a pop-up that someone came out with a few years ago in front of the passenger when needed?

I have dual consoles, but the passenger side is removable.  Usually the only time the passenger console is in the boat is when my wife is fishing with me, or for a tournament in the early months of the year so my partner has something to hide behind while running.  Other than that, I would rather not have the console in because I'm a big guy and like the room.
