Looking at a new reel. What techniques do you prefer a 8:1 ratio over a 7:1.

Thx

I use an 8:1 for frogs and jigs

Just recently put an 8.0:1 on my frog rod.  I think it makes a pretty big difference as far as working the bait and getting fish out of the slop.

Just bought an 8:1 to try.  Probably start it on a jig rod and move it to frogs if I don't like it

I have one but I have a 7.5:1 and other 7.1:1 reels that pull frog duty just fine for me. I can say I like it but just not a must have gear for me.

I can see using it for many shallow water techniques where you work a bait for a few feet then retrieve it to make another cast, less time in poor water -more time in productive water, more casts per day.
