rod/reel combos

 cabelas has a rod and reel combo with the reel i want on a fish eagleII. my question is how do the store brands stack up, and who makes them. i have also seen gander moutains guide series rods, but i dont know the reputation they have. id like to know what you all think. thanx for your imput.

I don't have any experience with the cabelas combo, but I bought a BPS combo about 5 years ago (rick clunn sig reel) and it has served me very well.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy a store branded reel again

Duck I can't answer your question....maybe if you gave a little more information....like what reel is on the combo...and what technique you intend to use it for...(example to jig .crank, topwater...etc)  People can make suggestion..... never used a Eagle II....but I have heard they are nice rods.........

Never buy a combo...unless...you have confidence in both rod & reel.

If you will wind up buying the combo because you like half of it your gonna spend the money later to replace the half you were getting cause you thought it was a good deal.
