Champion 805 flip vs Champion Extream 805 flip
« on: December 15, 2017, 07:57:28 PM »

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in action between the two rods ? I have the Champion 805 and a Champion Extream 795. I'm hoping the Champion Extream 805 has a in between action , between the Champion 805 and the Champion Extream 795

I have quite a few Dobyns Rods and if you call direct they will discuss the various rods and help you make best decision for yourself. I found all their advice spot on.

The DX 805 Flip has just a touch more tip than the 805 Flip/Punch Champion. I wish I could tell you it's in between and what your looking for but it's not. Sorry!!! I'd of loved to sold you one :)

Please yell anytime we can help.

Well I can tell you I will definitely be buying 2 more Champion Extream 795 I'm just not sure I will be using them for heavy punching. The 795 is a awesome rod ! You out did your self Gary . I have never felt a flipping stick that light in weight, it feels like a little kids rod it is so light in weight. The 795 might actually be what I'm looking for I'm not sure we have ice on the lakes now so no fishing until April if I'm lucky. I seen the Paul Meuller punching video and he seems to do just fine with the rod in heavy cover. We have chestnuts where I live and it is the most nasty stuff on the planet. I call it water barb wire because you can tow a truck with it. My old punch rod was a Lamiglas 797 Magnum Grass Rod but I miss a lot of fish with that rod, I must be blowing the fishes mouth open and I don't snap set either I just lean back hard. When the fish get balled up in chestnuts you have to go in and get them most of the time and I don't care how heavy your rod is your not pulling them out. Maybe my DX 795 will be the ticket and I still have not used my 806 Champion flip/punch.

I have used a 795 for years here in Louisiana for my punching and I don't think there is a better rod or action. I fish a lot of hydrilla, coontail, and hyacinths. The hyacinths can get pretty brutal and most anglers have to go after a fish, I can generally pull them through it. While that's not always the best idea, the rod can do it if need be.

Keep us posted please as you try it and the 805, I would love to hear your opinions as your vegetation grows.
