Not a Dock, but a Deck.
« on: December 18, 2017, 09:33:32 AM »

Picked up a few 6x6's and set them this weekend for our deck... Man those PT 6x6x12's are H E A V Y!!!! Especially when they are still a little green.

So I'm pretty sore. But we got them all set.

Awesome, looks like it will be a good sized deck too. Will you be putting a roof on it.

Looks like you got some set a little deeper than others. :-\

Might make the roof a little tougher.

Looks like a good start & plenty of work to do!  ~c~

The deck on my house wasn't in the best shape when we bought the house & will be needing an upgrade. There's no roof, so when it happens, that's one of the things I'll be adding. It's on the back of the house & the morning Sun shines on it all day after it clears the tree's. Man, that wood can get hot & when it's 100 degree's, can't hardly walk out there.   :'(

No roof. Can't see the stars that way. lol

They are all set about 30" in the ground. The posts out on the end are 12' tall. The ground drops about 2' from the trailer to where the outside posts are. They will run up past the deck 36" to run the handrail into. So my corner post by the door is a 10' and will need about 6" cut off it to be at the right height. The 12's will probably need a foot cut off but, that's ok. The other corner up against the trailer is actually about the correct height.

The decking will be about 1-2" below the threshold of the door.

The two center posts (against the trailer and in the middle middle, are just support posts that my beams will just sit on, to help carry the load, so I took a 12' and cut it in half and put it 30" in the ground. I'll still have to cut a little off to get them to the right height.

lol... I'm no engineer, but I do play one on TV.

It will look right once we get the decking down & get them cut to the right height.

Probably won't finish until after Christmas, got too much going on this weekend. But I'm off all next week so... we're going to get her framed up.
