Lake Osborne report 1/13/18
« on: January 13, 2018, 06:03:05 PM »

Date: 1/13/18
Time: 7:30 am - 12:00 pm
Weather : sunny
Air temp : 68-72 F
Wind: 5-13
Water Clarity: stained, 2 ft viewable

I havenít been to Lake Osborne in over a year and thought I would try again. I didnít know what to expect so I thought I would try a swim bait to figure where the fish are. I started on the north end near a dock and worked any open banks I could get to. The water level seemed to be very shallow. I didnít mind the shallowness but what got me was all the snot grass everywhere. I couldnít use any search baits effectively because I would be pulling so much vegetation on each cast.

I thought maybe I should move to another part of the lake where the snot grass wasnít as overwhelming. I found another dock in the below map not too far from the boat launch area. The water seemed just as shallow but I didnít pull up any grass with the swim bait. Nothing was biting the swimbait so it was time to go finesse. I finally got 2 dinks at the dock with a wacky rigged worm.

I tried to move to the dog park area in the park but there was so much boat traffic I gave up. I then moved to the square lake within the park. I saw something blowing up in the middle of the lake but was too far away to illicit a bite. Once the wind picked up to 11 mph I called it a day.

The lake looks like a good place to fish on a boat but with the overgrown grass along the bank, it was hard finding spots to fish from In all, it was good to try someplace new.

I have fished it from both the boat and bank.  Try down by the camping area on the south side.  I have caught some nice bass right by the store at the camping gate.

I agree with George. I've never fished up as far north as you did. I always fish below 6th ave. I have also fished Square Lake thats the one I told you has pads and vegetation.

Great report Roberto.
The wacky worm saved the day.
Just being out there, enjoying the nice weather is worthy.

Its a tough place to fish from the shore. Using a boat opens up more opportunities for that lake. Its got some really nice grass areas to it.
