Solid Spool
« on: April 01, 2018, 11:25:28 AM »

I am planning on buying a reel that has a Solid Spool, should that change my mind, or is tying an arbor not fine?

Why would the line slip? Tie a knot with mono or fluoro, they will grab. If using braid, wind a few wraps of mono around the spool, then tie the braid to that.

Arbor knot works perfectly fine, it is what I use. I have never had line fly off my spool. It will hold without issue. I have a few spools with no holes.

Some of the reels come with a rubber band on the spool called braid ready to prevent the braid slipping.
I usually put a rubber band on my spools before adding braid. Works great, so far no slipping. :-*
