The Alley MM41
« on: April 14, 2018, 01:28:00 PM »

Alligator Alley MM41
Saturday 4/14/18
7:00-noon
sunny
wind 10-15 SE
water temp 78*-81*
water dirty

I went with Roberto this morning.  He loves fishing and has not been out there.  We ran out the north canal to the Indian property.  The fishing was great in the north canal.  Most of the fish were caught deep at the base of the canal.  All these bass were fat for their size, and many still had red bellies from what looks like an infection.

We then moved to the south canal and let the east wind blow us all the way to the canal marker.  Unlike last week the south canal was considerable worse then the north canal.  I caught a nice fatty, walking a top water Money Bait.  All others were caught deep.

We finished with approximately 40 bass boated, a few warmouth, an Oscar, and a big mudfish.  There was only one other boat out there, and we only saw him briefly.  I'm sure Roberto will have a lot to add to this post.  A good time had by both of us.

Thank you again for the invite. Had a great time. The bite was on in the morning on the north side.

I had 2 consecutive frog bites

The fish were chunky

I even caught a few on a chatterbait. I am not confident at all with the chatterbait but the bites helps build some experience with it.

As the bite started to die, had to switch to the senko. Caught a few more but as it hit noon, the bite was nonexistent.

A great day in my opinion especial since I was skunked a few days ago at the park

To me the red blotches look like an infection, instead of spawning red spots.

I think they are from spawning based on how and where I caught my fish a couple of weeks back.  When I was fishing out there, my hits were along certain spots along the bank. Upon closer inspection into these areas, you can see the bed the fish came from. Some bass did have sores. But those sores are completely different than the red underbelly spots I was consistently catching. Bass that were caught deeper didn't have the red spots.

Lou a lot of those red spots were from fish caught in the middle of the canal canal.  The blotches were not just the belly but on their back, top of nose,  and upper sides, no tail fanning redness.  Water is filthy out there.  With visibility less then a foot in some areas.  Nasty looking red spots, but other then that, fat, and aggressive.  Iím defiately not kissing any of them! ~b~
