I've said it before and i'll say it again; EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT AND IF ALL ELSE FAILS EXPERIMENT. How many times do we load several rods with what we think will work and when the plan fails say the fish weren't biting?
The bass should be hitting our baits on a horizontal retrieve but they aren't, well did you experiment with depth or maybe speed or perhaps size or color? Should be catching the bass on the grassedges but getting squat, weight, color, maybe deeper in the grass, maybe a few feet outside the grass, maybe suspended in the grass, maybe need a larger bait or perhaps a smaller one, how do you know if you don't experiment.

exactly! never assume that the bass are going to bite what you want to throw. try to find what the fish want to hit instead.

It happened this weekend.
A clear lake so we threw natural colors till Princeton_man threw a white and chartreuse spinnerbait and caught a couple.
I then picked up a chartreuse crankbait and immediately started to catch fish.

Heck I EXPERIMENT EVEN WHEN WHAT I'M DOING IS WORKING.
How else can you figure out 'WHY' the baits working....is it the action, presentation, depth, color or a combination of variables.

I'm the 'odd man out'.......I don't just want to catch fish TODAY.....I WANT TO CATCH FISH EVERY SINGLE OUTING!
If I don't understand 'WHY' they were biting......the next outing if they aren't biting I HAVE NO CLUE WHY THEY AREN'T.

Only way to find out the 'WHYS' is to EXPERIMENT!
