My very first cast with my Dobyns 734 Fury and a 1/4 oz. Jig 'n Frog. I made maybe twenty casts total to this laydown with a spinnerbait, first. There's a lesson there too, I reckon. A 6 lb. 14 oz. reward, and a great way to break in the new rod.

I've been told I pay attention to the details way too much sometimes, but when it comes to fishing I can't help it...

Two things. First I'm jealous, you appear to cast left handed as easily as you do right.

Second, you felt that fish strike it just didn't click, maybe because of the wind. You hoped it once and then on your second hope you followed through with a hook set.

Fishing is more than just a hobby

That dad gum wind, and a Jon boat. You're constantly makin' adjustments...

Anyone see what I do as soon as I set the hook? It's a move I believe is CRITICAL to catchin' more fish sometimes. It's so automatic that I don't think about it.

And I taught myself years ago to throw both ways. Keeps the bait wet.
