Caught a bunch, right at and just under 16". Can't seem to find the bigger ones. Tried other methods, and both ends of the lake.

A nice power plant lake in mid Illinois. I fished it quite a bit during the winter until around 2003. The better bet this time of year is Baldwin, another power plant lake in southern Illinois about an hour from St. Louis. LM, SM and stripers. Large stripers, the kind that can destroy a reel. By the way, is Michael's restaurant in Highland still open? I enjoyed that place.

Michael's is still open, the hotel part closed, was made into apartments.
If you want a good steak, go out to St. Rose, a place called Popeyes chop house. They're pricey, but good. I've never had a bad meal, or bad service their.
I usually avoid Baldwin, gets rough real quick their. Have the smallies and stripers recovered? Since the kill a few years ago?

I don't know about the SM. There were never a lot of them because of the stripers. The stripers were re-stocked with both large and fingerling hatchery fish. These are actual stripers, not hybrids. They are big boys that can grow to 40 pounds.

You have me rethinking my avoidance of Baldwin. Would love to tangle with a striper.
